Working for the Big Three is the most dysfunctional relationship you will ever be in. If they were your boyfriend, all your friends would do an intervention until you broke up them. Imagine being completely belittled on a daily basis in every way possible and then when you threaten to leave they apologize and beg you stay.
The office manager/executive assistant in the Boston office does everything in his power to undermine anyone who is more smarter than him- which is everyone. The big three take super talented people who they don't deserve and break them. DO NOT JOIN THIS COMPANY under any circumstance.

poor hiring practices, complete and total alienation of retail team (think Caste system - BAD), highly disorganized, condescending management, inability to do your job well because there are so many hoops to jump through despite being a "small" team, crappy product, horrific systems

Seriously? Swallow the ego and run a business. Hire the right people, not the people who just happen to apply at the right time. Treat your employees with respect and dignity, whether they're a C-level or a part-time store associate. DON'T make your store employees wear all-black to company parties to "distinguish" themselves and advise them to be seen and not heard. Stop acting like you're too good to even introduce yourself. Get your tech act together. Improve processes, and focus on making GOOD shoes as opposed to new shoes every Monday. Stop spending $20,000 on a "mural" for the flagship store every QUARTER and invest that money in everything that's wrong.
