Great learning opportunity. If you want to experience grass-roots activism with a big impact, I would definitely apply for an internship/job here. Management has great communication and at least with my manager, they want you to succeed in the internship and will help you out as best as they can.

This place had a good cause but they expect way too much out of people. Seriously you'd think you'd get a little compensation but nothing!!! If you have stress or anxiety it's not for you.

Good internship but did not see ideas flourish
|
Great company to intern with, but projects completed never moved further. The work finished did not feel as though it would be used. With it being a remote position, it was difficult to collaborate.

This is not an internship
|
I was excited to work for this nonprofit because they do interesting work with a unique approach. But the internship is not even an internship. They just want your money and you basically spam Congress. There’s also literal high schoolers interning which I find to be off-putting. The company could greatly benefit from providing actual internships to qualified students rather than this.

I'm halfway through my internship, and I had a pretty good experience so far. I like how I had to call, email, and write letters to members of Congress. However, it did seem too focused on fundraising at the same time.

Great internship for learning about Lobbying the Government
|
You can set your own hours and the managers are always there if you need them! However, mostly an individual job where you won't interact with anyone other than your supervisor occasionally. Great if you're busy and want to get involved without a crazy time commitment. However, do wish there was more of a workplace culture to speak of as the whole internship just is about making you, you complete your checklist. Granted, this is tough given that the whole internship is virtual.

Gained experience, but their demands keep coming

As a writer intern, every week we were to write an article that would later be published. I got experience writing and pitching ideas which was somewhat worth the time and effort put in. However, after my internship was completed, I still received emails from managers and article editors asking if I could add/edit certain sections or do more research so that the article could meet new requirements. For example, I got an email 3 months after my internship ended, asking if I could add a new section to an article that I had written which would have required additional research. Not only should they not have asked after my internship was over, but this really shows how behind their editors are (you won't get feedback when necessary/convenient for you if that's what you are looking for). In addition, this is an unpaid internship in which you fundraise $500. Take what you will with that information.
