Attractive Salary. Freedom to do work. Lovely atmosphere. Space to do research works. Saturdays and Sundays are holidays
Lot of works have to do when we are at home also. Transfer to distant places is also making problem. Promotions are based on extracurricular activities

The greatest first job EVER
Benefits - health, dental, vision
Awesome starting pay for college grads
Work feels meaningful
Busy but not overloaded
Overall employees are easy to get along with
This is my first job out of college. I am SPOILED by this place. Great benefits (insurance, vacation and sick time, holiday pay, paid personal time, etc.) and the managers are very understanding if you need to take a day off to work from home. I went from intern to research associate to policy analyst in under a year, however I am not sure where I go from here so that's why career opportunities are only 4/5 stars. But for now, I am very happy with my position and the networking I get to do. Great atmosphere, great starting pay (compared to most of my college friends who chose a different path), and it seems every month or so we have some sort of team-building (free!) lunch and/or exercise and/or professional development training. And yes, we have free mini cans of diet coke, haha. It will take A LOT of convincing for me to work somewhere else, especially since I haven't been out of school very long and like I said, I really am spoiled here. I am very surprised at some of the other reviews on here talking about cliques and favorites and workloads. This has not been my experience at all - I know for a fact I'm nobody's favorite, however the work I do feels appreciated and I feel trusted to make my own decisions regarding my work. I have yet to take my laptop home to work on something outside of office hours. Highly recommend!

Maybe highlight more opportunities for policy analysts to become something more, pay raise possibilities, more free professional development, etc.

CSG is a great place to work
Dynamic organization doing great work that makes a difference. Treats employees better than any other organization I've heard of. Feels very much like a Silicon Valley - lite kind of place.
Inner-politics of the organization often create un-needed drama

This organization will not be around in five years.
CSG offers a fairly flexible schedule and an OK starting salary. There are few policy organizations in Lexington, so this was attractive.
This organization, despite its lofty mission, is floundering due to extremely poor management at all levels. I do not expect it to be in existence in five years. I would not recommend anyone work at this dysfunctional place. People are dropping like flies, like rats fleeing a sinking ship.
While the mission is to support the organization's members - state policymakers, it too often felt like we existed simply to help the private-sector members have an opportunity to lobby the members. Under new leadership, the associates program began to wield way too much power, and private-sector members were catered to at every turn, at the expense of other more productive work. There is now only a small difference between CSG and ALEC. Chasing the dollar is now the number 1 priority for all staff.
Policy work has trickled to a halt. Management did away with a lot of policy publications and other reports because it "was too much work" for the editing team. Why have a policy group at all?
There are good people here, but management is so bad and so clique-y that they will all leave eventually. I know that I'm looking pretty hard.

You are driving this organization into the ground. The board should get involved to remove all of the leadership, from the disinterested CEO to the managers who have spent their whole lives at CSG and have no idea how it works in the real world. Go back to what makes CSG different from similar organizations and stop chasing corporate dollars at the expense of everything else.

Paid the bills, but hard to get excited about
Generally flexible work schedule (though this varies manager to manager) and when in the office, everyone leaves at 5 pm. Easy location for public transportation. Benefits are decent but not great.
Just not a lot going on for this organization. They have a great reach and could be influential, but the lack of policy motivation can make the day-to-day very dull. Experience working here can vary greatly from manager to manager. Some micromanagement and "out to get you" behavior if you get the wrong manager. Tough to advance in the organization.

Decent benefits package and work-out room.

So many cliques. Very little work going on until it's time for a meeting and the it's crunch time. Waste of taxpayers money.
