Good Experience
Would work there again given a higher salary and job security. My position didn't require much assistance or management because I was freelance and I didn't hold many responsibilities but given the opportunity to gain employment and security, I would take it.

A typical Day
I thought I would like working here, but the staff was very unfriendly. My boss would see me in the elevator and would never smile. The work ambience was very depressing. The only time my boss spoke to me was when she needed me to provide her with the numbers

Fast-paced, positive, and collaborate workplace
While working in the fact department at New York Mag, I frequently interfaced with several other staff members to discuss the minutiae of detailed pieces. I loved that the environment was collaborative (read: I didn't just sit at my desk in an isolated bubble all day). Often, the research to fact-check the stories was stimulating and kept me on my toes. The office environment is generally friendly as well.

A lot of rich kids writing badly.
This is where the stupid kids from the Ivy Leagues go. As a public school kid, I felt wholly out of place, but I felt people were nice to me because I was funny, could drink a lot, and covered celebrities.

Life at NY Magazine
I really have no complaints. The staff was helpful, the energy was around, and it was a fun place to be. There was something new every day. Loved it.

Fun place to work at until the economy bites you in the behind!!
I enjoyed working at NY Magazine. I learned a lot about myself in the 2 years I was there. Co-workers were so helpful especially when I first joined the company. So many people went out of their way to help me get on my feet.
It's also a pretty stressful environment when busy. So if you are faint at heart and sensitive, this is not the place for you, but if you are willing to learn the sales and magazine business, go for it.
I just however don't feel that there is much job security or advancement, and I feel that management should communicate better, especially when horrible employees(who should have never been hired) are the reason for your daily heartaches. I felt I had no support on that level. It was truly discouraging. Even worse, management made me feel that it was my fault that things fell apart, even though I tried to help remedy the situation.
