private:theexchange https://www.indeed.com/cmp/army-&-airforce-exchange-service/reviews Jan 29th, 2021 12:00AM Open Open Open Army & Airforce Exchange Service Stocker/Laborer Box Elder, SD USA Sad place to work. This was only my second retail job and I worked there for a year. (Only because I made myself a promise to stick it out for that long). I can only attest to the Ellsworth Main store working conditions, so as with any organization it probably depends on timing and mine was the worst. My first retail job was with a large outfitter/sportsman chain and I did not care for the position I was assigned and left after 6 months. If I could have transferred to another area I would have stayed. It was not perfect but much better run than the Ellsworth Exchange. I am sure that my starting just before the pandemic restrictions would reveal any weaknesses or strengths in a retail company's management, and they could have used this event to show what a West Point led company could do better than the other box stores, failed at this location. It is unfortunate that an organization, whose job is to serve the military community, retirees and disabled vets would treat their customers and employees so poorly. If you are considering a job in retail, work at one of the other civilian retail chains, you will at least get paid better for the aggravation. Working for the military community and their families. Poor leadership. 0.0 0.0 1.0 3.0 1.0 2.0 3.0 1.0 Feb 1st, 2021 10:42AM Mar 19th, 2021 07:54PM The Exchange Household Goods

Anything goes, poor behavior is tolerated and the turnover rate is sky high Easy to advance Everything else 0.0 0.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 3.0 2.0 1.0 Feb 1st, 2021 10:42AM Mar 19th, 2021 07:54PM The Exchange Household Goods
private:theexchange https://www.indeed.com/cmp/army-&-airforce-exchange-service/reviews Jan 26th, 2021 12:00AM Open Open Open Army & Airforce Exchange Service Customer Experience Teller Fort Campbell, KY USA Co workers were great for the most part Had no option but to work the shift given. Was never given an opportunity to change my shift, others were hired to cover the other shifts. Management doesn't care about the workers. Just trying to cover their butts. I really enjoyed what I did, but there was too much drama and favoritism. The Manager didn't trust anyone other than those that have worked there for years. And she didn't take care of them well either. One of them quit after working there for over 10 years because of the favoritism. I love working with people, it was fun to meet different people. Dealing with super upset customers, being told that we are not supposed to refund for certain reasons, but a Manager overrides you and does it, You don't get anything for free or discounted, You might manage to win a gift card if you sell enough of their promos 0.0 0.0 3.0 2.0 2.0 2.0 3.0 1.0 Feb 1st, 2021 10:42AM Mar 19th, 2021 07:54PM The Exchange Household Goods

Worked in Germany, older customers were cool but the younger immature soldiers were annoying. private:theexchange https://www.indeed.com/cmp/army-&-airforce-exchange-service/reviews Jan 10th, 2021 12:00AM Open Open Open Army & Airforce Exchange Service Supervisor Kirtland AFB, NM USA Busy and not enough pay I enjoyed the culture of working around military families here. However the job itself was demanding. I did several jobs that weren’t in my title and I was not being paid more than 8.75 to do (even asked to be supervisor temporarily). Sometimes they just don’t hire people so it becomes even more short staffed and you’re asked to do things that are now out of your pay grade entirely. 0.0 0.0 4.0 4.0 3.0 3.0 3.0 2.0 Feb 1st, 2021 10:42AM Mar 19th, 2021 07:56PM The Exchange Household Goods

It takes special people to work in retail. We are yelled at by customers, hours are long, but we do the best we can. With employees PCSing, we are sometimes short-staffed but we do the best we can to make sure everyone is checked out as quickly as possible. private:theexchange https://www.indeed.com/cmp/army-&-airforce-exchange-service/reviews Dec 10th, 2020 12:00AM Open Open Open Army & Airforce Exchange Service Sales Associate Fort Riley, KS No The best part of my job was my manager and a few coworkers. Very little pay for everything you're expected to do. I was usually very stressed out due to having too many things to do. Upper management doesn't care for the employees at all, they just want to see numbers and get the approval of those above them at any cost None Work load 0.0 0.0 2.0 1.0 1.0 3.0 1.0 3.0 Feb 1st, 2021 10:42AM Mar 20th, 2021 01:04PM The Exchange Household Goods

private:theexchange https://www.indeed.com/cmp/army-&-airforce-exchange-service/reviews Dec 5th, 2020 12:00AM Open Open Open Army & Airforce Exchange Service Business Analyst Dallas, TX USA Low Pay, Lots of Slackers Easily 40% of the HQ building is do-nothing slackers who have a net negative impact to the bottom line. You can tell because when there’s a promotion in the store or new facility opening in the food court, so many people are “available” to go wait in a line for 2-3 hours, to get some cool shades or other promo stuff, instead of... working their job??? The rest of the associates are left pull the load while the do-nothings get paid the same salary (or sometimes, more!)... AND the organization pays through the nose for competent contractors to get the jobs done because they don’t have capable employees. It’s also pretty stupid to hire contractors who are with you for 10+ years, pay a large sum for them, and yet can’t pay high enough salaries to attract quality employees for this work... or any kind of work. It takes forever to get promoted, and good luck if you end up working for a manager who discredits any prior work experience. generous leave accrual - you’ll need it most managers are short sighted, play favorites, or treat you like an imbecile; pay is laughable 0.0 0.0 2.0 4.0 2.0 1.0 1.0 2.0 Feb 1st, 2021 10:42AM Mar 20th, 2021 01:05PM The Exchange Household Goods
