Was a really great place to work

I had a lovely time working with The Family Partnership. A great entry level job where you can develop your skills and make an impact in the community. I loved my team very much. There is not much room for advancement and it is a typical non-profit where you get paid little. Was laid off because the company changed their mission and values.

Management leaves a lot to be desired.
|
A typical work day mostly involves making sure kids are safe and are returned to the right parent.
If you've worked in childcare this job is pretty easy.
Unstructured learning time, so you can pretty much do whatever educational activity you desire to do.
The summers are more hectic, but the winter time is extra chill.
It's a drop in childcare center so you may or may not have children depending on the day and the weather.
I learned how to be more autonomous about my teaching style.
Management is poor. They are disorganized, communication via emails or otherwise is too slow, and there is a lack of basic training provided from the director.
Training's differ from location to location and person to person.
I think there is a high turn over rate probably because they don't pay enough right off the bat.
The peers you work with can be pretty cool, depending. Because there is a lack of people a lot of the times you'll be working with a person from a substitute teaching company, Teachers On Call.
Management is the most annoying part of the job.
Children can be fun to chill with, but there can be a lot of down time when there aren't children to look after.
Some days you might have a total of 45 kids for the entire day (only during the summer) or you could have zero kids (mostly during bad weather, i.e, winter)

Good Vision
|
Overall, the agency has a good vision. I understand what they see and what they want to do. But, in reality it all comes down to the fundings, lack of communication, and support. A typical day is usually busy and fast paced, the hardest part is as mentioned the support of a team is not there. What I enjoy most about my job is being able to help my students learn adn grow as well as the clients and staffs when ever I can.

Really enjoyed working with the Staff and Clients
|
I was hired temporarily to assist while a merger was taking place - so really - very limited as to what I experienced from the COMPANY side. But I enjoyed all aspects of my position, the cultural and work environment and often send out positive thoughts to those who came to the Bloomington office for help. The staff there were incredible and it is great to work with a group that is dedicated and truly cares.
