private:thefinancialtimessouthkorea https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=4611 Mar 31st, 2021 12:00AM Open Open Financial Times Senior Product Manager London, England, England FT Product & Technology toxic leadership Paid wellness days offer to staff to help cope with pressures of covid-related lockdown, good working from home equipment support and some good people to work with on the ground. Product & Tech have a senior leadership team (the C*O titled ones) that is creating a highly toxic and unproductive work environment for many of the department's staff. Favouritism is rife. Anxiety and burn out is high. Staff are grateful to have a job and a paid wellness day. But things are not good. Psychological safety is low. People increasingly look out for themselves, vie for attention and recognition, do other people's jobs in an effort to prove they are indespensible. It's end of Q1 and two disciplines look to be lined up for the chopping block at some stage in 2021 based on recent decisions and leadership behaviours. Quiet achievers more interested in driving team success need not apply. If you're not making yourself highly visible, elbowing a few people out of the way in the process, you're invisible here. There are good people here, hard working people, and if you are one of "the favourites" life is good (for a while) and you can do no wrong. But this is sadly not the case for many and the FT's product & tech department is not the place it once was to work. The blame can only be pointed at the C*O's in charge, for how they lead others follow. -1.0 NEGATIVE 0.0 NEUTRAL 1.0 APPROVE 4.0 1.0 3.0 1.0 3.0 2.0 1.0 4611 Open Take a close look at the psychological safety or lack of, in product & technology. Listen to people you don't normally talk to, the less vocal ones, and find out what's really going on, how staff are really reacting.
