I did not hold any sort of managerial position. From my experience volunteering, I don't feel comfortable calling it anything more than alright. Once you sign in, they kind of just let you loose, not giving much instruction on what to do aside from your assigned task. The floor is open, and you can ask the people working during your shift what to you, but again, they pretty much just let you loose. It's alright if you want to do some volunteer work, but I would reccomend bringing a friend. I found that they operated in a relaxed yet professionally attentive manner. All COVID precautions were followed from the very beginning and until the time of my departure. Having never worked for a non-profit I was surprised that the work was neither labor or time intensive. Management was always fair about any requested time off and never was abrasive in the face of accidents or mishaps. This is a smoothly run operation and I’m grateful to have gotten to work here. The president of the food bank has brought in a bunch of friends to run the place and its a joke. Being a nonprofit organization, people work without being driven by a bottom line. Collaboration through team work get the jobs done. We get paid to do work that impacts and helps to enhance the lives of others! Fun atmosphere, challenging and fast paced. Most of the staff feel like family. I plan on retiring here! Worst part the senior team has horrible communication and mangement skills. Its best just to keep you mouth shut when you see the senior team doing wrong because if you do you will end up with a target on your back. The poor Board of Directors are clueless on how the senior team fluffs the number and does not not see the horrible turnover rate. I wish i had never left them. Every single person who works there is there to help and proud to be a part of doing so.
