You get to work with some really talented and great people. The work, depending on what your doing, is ok. Your manager better like you because they hold your career in their hands. Lots of double speak and favoritism from managers.

Great place if money isn't your main concern
|
Great environment, co-workers, and opportunities to learn. Visitors are mostly wonderful. Flexibility in hours and also the opportunity to pick up extra hours. Good orientation and training for new employees. Pay is low, so unless you have another income this is not a long term job choice. Most of the positions here are part time with no benefits.

Its a really great place to work if this would be your first job, or a job to go to when you are just bored! I was a guest service associate and loved my job, but I did work food service and it was a completeeeee nightmare.

The job was relatively easy with tons of free time if you did everything correctly. However, the pay was pathetic compared to other guard companies in the area and there was 0 chance of scoring a full time position unless you were related to someone or your dad knew the supervisor back in 1980.

Fun Place but Bad Pay

It was a fun and challenging place to work but the pay is way too low for the amount of work that we have to do. The managers have favorites so it makes working there very discouraging.

When I first started almost 2 years ago, this was an exciting, top notch venue. When I was hired I was told staff was being paid a gratuity of 18% and $5.50 per hour but after about a year that changed to $20.00 per hour and no gratuity, hmmm. So going from $27.00 to $37.00 an hour, to $20.00 yeah they lost my trust.. Also it doesn't help when a manager tells a guest staff receives gratuity, when we don't.
Staff have a dress code and a phone policy but consistently some staff believe they don't have to follow these policy's. Not all staff are treated equally.
Each manager runs their functions differently, some are detail oriented some are very lax which creates inconsistency. The hardest part of this job is walking on the museum floor which are tile, and concrete under the wooden floors.
Orientation was fabulous !!
Now it has just become a job.....
