Many pros
|
There are many pros of this job. If you are a remote worker, you have no commute and have complete freedom in setting your hours. Also, you can work as much as you need to so it is nice for traveling as well.

Great place to start as a freelancer - low pay
|
I wrote for The HOTH remotely and had no prior writing experience. They were a great place to start and learn the fundamentals of SEO/content writing. They offer low pay, but it's a content mill.
You can learn a lot if the editors/Quality Control team feels like being nice or helping you understand. If you get a newer QC or one that is on a power trip, be prepared for a less than fun time.
I generally received great feedback from clients and QC, but sometimes even the clients could be quite harsh - a few made me question my ability and desire to continue writing. This was often a miscommunication from the client in explaining what they wanted or a topical error. I'm not blameless, I'd mess up a few times, as writers we all do.
While I was there, there were a few months without any work at all; more than a few times there were faux pas in communication with management. I know several of the freelancers that were there when I was have since moved on because of oft-changed quota policies, timeframes, etc.
I left because I was able to secure long-term higher paying clients and continue to grow as a writer. I didn't see many advancement opportunities for remote workers.
Generally, you won't be given credit for your work, it is ghostwritten. At the time I worked there, they preferred AIDA (still use it).
Would I do it again? Yes. But for a shorter amount of time. It's perfect for entry-level writers but don't spend more than 6-12 months writing for them.
|
You learn how to churn out content, learn to research quickly, learn AIDA, Swag pack
|
Low pay, few opportunities to move up, on and off writing quotas, multiple changes in policy, returned work with little or no feedback

Productive and focused workplace
|
Overall this is a fantastic place to work. The work culture is special and benefits are plenty. The hardest part of the job is taking the time to provide individual value. There is a lot of room for professional growth, but our roles require a lot of time and attention to detail. Fulfilling side tasks and other projects are what I find joy in but balancing them with my daily tasks is challenging. Leadership pays attention to the effort though. Your hard work will never go unnoticed.

Low pay, high churn, low growth
|
Despite multiple attempts at working with the, admittedly, very friendly office staff and executives, there was no room for growth. After several years, it seemed hard to find a way to make more money other than working until an ungodly hour in the morning.
If there was no work, there was no work. There are no promises once the queue is empty.

Good Place to Work
|
Learned a lot about SEO writing. Writing work seems to be constant. High standards. Good feedback. Slightly mechanical and a lacking in variety. All in all a good experience.

Was hired easily in 2017 & worked online for about 6 months. Very easy job, but kind of stressful sometimes. Sometimes there would be no work for weeks, and the online Slack chatroom with all the employees was very clique-ish.
|
You choose when to work, work is fairly easy
|
Clique-ish, sometimes no work for a long time, only get paid $2.50 for a topic

Don't even think about it
|
I rarely write reviews over companies whether good or bad. But just wow.
When you are hired at the beginning, you are told that whatever you are doing wrong, they will let you know. And to be fair, they do. But if you put out a lot of work orders the week prior, not knowing till a week later what you were doing was wrong, they will still let you go.
So yeah. No support. Don't expect warnings, because even if you get them, you won't have any time to put them into effect.

It's a writing mill. You don't get credit for the work. They are a new company that is still working out its bugs.
Overall, not a bad place to work.
|
Paid regularly. Work anywhere
|
Hard to communicate with management, their quality control are control freaks, cookie-cutter writing
