Team was lovely. Great opportunity to gain experience as someone just starting out. Got to work across tons of different areas which was eye opening and fun.

Basically working full time and expected to produce lots of work to a very high level in spite of not being paid (only paid expenses) and being an intern. Lots of promises about opportunities to develop skills etc which never came to fruition.
It was clear early on - despite being told otherwise in the interview - that nobody would be taken on full time following an internship. Kinda seemed like they just wanted you to stay on working for them despite not actually being paid.

Excellent Culture and Great Team

Culture's great -- honestly, this company saved my opinion of startups. After several years grinding in a hyper-growth startup I loved but which was very toxic I left completely burnt out. When I first had the opportunity to join The Hustle, I was a little worried --because of the name -- that it would be more of the same. I've never been so happy to be wrong.
The Hustle is proof that that you can build a great company that's super successful and still cares about people. Every person on the team is a world-class operator, and we've got some of the coolest readers in the world.
Comp packages are great, and there's a lot of flexibility to take on new challenges or grow into new roles... And I mean this when I say that the leaders here are genuinely great -- intense, while still being very people-oriented and emotionally intelligent, which I find is rare in the startup world.
I have recommended several friends for key roles.

This one's tough. Obviously the company is not perfect, but they are very open to feedback, and are always working on improving things. For context, at my last company every week or so some executive would call me in tears, sobbing from the crazy pressure everyone was always under.
By contrast, The Hustle's founder (Sam) has literally asked me and other employees on multiple occasions "What can we do to make you love working here?"
So it's hard to say there are any cons, really.
I guess it's still in that startup-ish phase where we don't have extremely robust processes for things like onboarding, or career-tracking. That can be a con for some people.
Anyone thinking of working here should also understand this is a deadline-driven product -- the Newsletter has to go out -- and sometimes that means nights or weekends.
We could be better at prioritizing projects. Right now, we tend to spread ourselves a little thin doing a bit of everything.
But I wouldn't say any of those are baked into the culture here, and I've seen efforts to improve on all of them.

Incredible team and culture

- After working FT at several companies, the Hustle by far has the best culture. The team is not only fun (everyone is super kind and supportive), but has a strong bias towards action. It's incredible to be on a team that moves so fast. The speed and autonomy is not for everyone, but for people that like being scrappy, creating things, and driving impact, it's wonderful.
- No hierarchy. Everyone treated equally.
- Always new opportunities to take on, if you're ambitious.
- Lots of opportunity to learn and grow. The founder is super generous with an unlimited book allowance and other paid learning opportunities. The ability to engage with the Trends community is also a huge plus.

Just like any startup, there probably could be more structure.
