Mike Fannin is a strong President and Regional Editor. While I was proud to work for a media company, their pay was not competitive and had to leave and return to see an increase in pay. Some of those left in the newsroom care about each other, but it can also be a ruthless environment where reporters become hyper-competitive for clicks, creating a bad work environment. Older/more experienced staff often laid off and those that aren't laid off are all looking for an exit strategy. A lot of the younger staff leave on their own because they see writing on the wall. Business/click model is broken. So many people in the community don't feel the paper is relevant anymore, which is sad. "Benefits" are abysmal. Management doesn't even attempt to shield you from corporate BS. It's clear the priorities are the sports department and anything that drives clicks.
