Changed the remote policy a few months after being hired which forced a lot of remote employees to leave. The high turnover of people made for the workload to be a lot for those that stuck around. Typical agency life, long hours and fast turnarounds on projects. You'll get plenty of opportunities to work on awesome stuff for some clients who are interested in pushing the boundaries of creative marketing and advertising. The Many have put a lot of effort into being uniquely themselves. They know exactly who they are and the type of content and creative they want to put out into the world, and believe strongly in a set of core values that they not only live by as an agency, but they also use to hold clients and potential clients accountable to the same standards. Because of this, you'll rarely (if ever) deal with a client who disrespects or talks down to you. That's not to say the demand isn't high -- The Many is well-respected and as such clients ask a lot of you -- but being in the industry for over a decade, this isn't the same as having a client who treats you like a workhorse and disrespects you. It's refreshing to know an agency actually cares about you as a human and will fire clients if their culture doesn't match our own. A few other pros: * The people are fantastic. Truly. They all go above and beyond and are willing to help out. * Zero egos here. Everyone is incredible and all have every right to brag, but no one does. It's refreshing and feels inclusive. * They care. About their work. About their clients. About the city and where we live and work. And about their employees. * You'll get to do cool stuff. Innovative campaigns. Stuff that really pushes the boundaries. And you'll get your hands dirty in the process. * They're transparent. They aren't afraid to share what's going well and what isn't. * They've got an in-house production studio which is amazing. If you're looking for a company that easily marries production + innovative social and creative, this is a great place to see those two come together seamlessly. The agency has faced its fair share of growing pains and ebbs and flows. They've faced layoffs before and they have a fair amount of business tied up in just a few key accounts. This is risky because if one of these clients leaves, it can have a disastrous effect on the bottom line. This is what happened when they faced layoffs in the past. This isn't to say they aren't working to identify new ways to generate revenue outside of client work (leasing office space, internal productions, etc. etc.) but just something to be mindful if you're coming from a larger agency with tons of clients. A few other cons: * Long hours. You're going to work long hours. It obviously depends on time of year, clients you're on, etc., but the general sentiment at the agency is hustle hard and make cool stuff. The good thing here is that everyone is on board with this, so you'll never feel like you're the only one having do work your butt off, the obvious con is that you'll be working past 5PM and on the weekends....fairly regularly. * Client roster isn't huge. Potential for burn and loss of revenue is there...but the clients we do have LOVE us. So it's not really so much of a real fear as it is something to just be mindful of if you're looking to make the switch. * Unrealistic deadlines. This is something that is pretty common in the industry, and can be attributed to a lot of factors. I will say, the PMs do a TREMENDOUS job of really building out healthy timelines, but for a variety of reasons, it always seems like things get up against the wall. Additional rounds of revisions, clients delayed on getting feedback, etc. Not always the fault of The Many, but if we're talking about cons always feeling like you're rushing to hit a deadline is one (and also part of the reason for working long hours). * Recently went through a whole "Return to LA" thing as they decided to return to the office in a hybrid format. Having operated for the last several years as a remote-first company (due primarily to the pandemic), they recently decided they want everyone back in the office 3 days a week (Tues - Thurs), unless you're 20+ miles away, then it's only 2 days a week. This caused a lot of discussion and stress because a huge portion of the company worked remotely throughout the US. The company worked with employees to make this as smooth as possible, but ultimately, the remote employees needed to commit to moving to LA as that was the only path forward (with some very few exclusions) if you wanted to continue working at the company. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 0.0 4.0 3.0 5.0 4.0 4.0 5.0 5.0 1255920 Open Continue with transparency and communication.
