Your takes a a beating so make sure you drive a cheap car for this job often times truck was late which means you didn't start until 7 or 8 in the morning then you would get complaints which is money out of your pay check

Delivery driver offers no positives anymore
|
Delivery drivers have to work every single day. In my 6 months there I had not gotten a single day off. The hours are also awful 2am-6am. Pay was based on how many people you delivered to which steadily decreased every day. Would not recommend a position like this in the current newspaper climate. I can't speak for how the work is for Modesto bee inside their offices, but delivery is not a viable job.

It was a great company to work for until - McClatchy (parent company of the Bee) bought the Knight-Ridder newspapers, then they were worried more about money instead of quality of the news, reporting and the news paper in general.

Fun and easy
|
I arrive at work at 2 am to fold all the newspapers that are to be delivered that morning. I usually have around 300. Next, I go over any paperwork informing me of stops and starts on my route. Then I deliver all the newspapers and go home. I work independently so I never see my boss, only on paydays.

Steady work while it lasted
|
Good part-time work if you have another job. No benefits for part-timers but the crew was a nice group to work with before the layoff. Most nights were uneventful but there would be breakdowns and the occasional route fill-in. Managers were great and made for a tight-knit group. Miss working there.

Had to work everyday. The sooner you would go pick up your newspapers the sooner you would get done. some customers are so rude but I still keep my cool even if they complain.
