Mixed feelings
People were usually friendly, and everyone seemed to genuinely care about the public good. The office culture was good and informal (without going off the deep end like a tech startup). Some of the projects were interesting to work on.
Often didn't have the technology needed to get the job done. Specifically, it took forever to get various programs needed or to have IT needs addressed. Also, no paid sick leave for part-time employees. The executive director seemed pretty aloof re: how employees were doing, although lower-level managers were often better. Sometimes, some people on staff seemed to be stuck in old ways of doing things.

Like many non profit organizations funding can be a barrier to sustaining programs.

Great nonprofit organization
Great mission, people, and location
The same as many non-profits: soft funding, not as competitive compensation, etc.

New leadership needed
Competitive salaries for the nonprofit sector. Nice offices. Their programs have great potential. They are well connected in the state.
No room for career advancement. Leadership lacks vision, charisma, doesn't seem to care about employees. Programs and strategy shift depending which grant comes through, rather than on a long-term strategic plan. (try asking an employee "what is the mission of ProvPlan") Overall unhealthy, negative work culture.

I learned so much here. The people were great, and I haven't experienced anything close to work/life balance since.
Organizational culture was good. The folks in leadership demonstrated a great deal of competence and promoted professionalism and balance.
So many of the projects were grant-based that long term job security and opportunities for upward mobility were limited.

Unhealthy work environment, ineffective organization, waste of public money.
Most employees stick to a regular schedule. Pay is pretty good for nonprofits.
Board of Directors is uninformed and doesn't even show up to meetings. Executive Director is cold and distant to his employees, he has no vision for the organization and has little idea of what is happening on the ground. He mainly cares about looking good. The organization overall is great at getting grants but has no focus on what they are trying to achieve. No one seems to care about results of their programs so they end up wasting precious grant dollars on ineffective programs.

Sometimes the work can be a bit brain numbing- cleaning addresses is never fun, but it has to be done. Not a big deal
