Working with the public can be trying, however it was the best part of the job. You met new people every day as well as lots of regulars. Unfortunately there were slackers hired and only cared about receiving a paycheck they didn't really earn by doing their jobs. The Ruby Slipper is the first job I got after relocating to New Orleans. I love my Ruby Krewe so much and still keep in contact with many of my co-workers. Loved working at The Ruby Slipper Cafe! The food was overall great, drinks as well. People LOVED coming in and would wait for hours to sit down and eat. Having only one course really makes a difference when turning tables, and some weeks I made up to 1400! Minimal opening and closing duties and sidework and low silverware roll counts!Negatives include very tight budgetary restrictions which affected the staff and guests both (not replacing cheap silverware that was accidentally thrown away or taken by guests, not hiring any cleaning crew for the foh or both, doing simple maintenance or repairs and acting as if the staff owed them big time for it). Also, it was once a beautiful building which is now filthy and smelly.
