Expect to work 12-20 hour shifts on your feet and often without any breaks. The only thing they can train you very well in is ways to not run a business. They do not care about their waitstaff and will work you like a pig only to toss you aside when you think your putting your all into their company. Its hard work but a lot of fun. If you love having fun and making people's day I would work here. They don't pay you the gratuity they charge clients. The office staff and Director gossips and bullies each other and management is lacking. The BOH manager is out of the country half of the year and micromanages at late hours due to the time difference. This was my entry into Barwork and thankfully so, I was taught to do cocktails and how to properly interact with customers as the face of the company. It was sometimes challenging when dealing with more difficult customers but my training covered those encounters and I quickly learned that they weren't upset with me but rather the service provided. I thoroughly enjoyed working the night shifts as busy environments are where I shine through as an efficient worker. Flexible hours around college. I learned how to be more resourceful with my time and other resources and how effective it is to understand timing of applications. Management were always pushing for new ways to extend the projects and our skill set, nothing was ever made to sound impossible. As an individual I have developed leadership skills, I enjoy making important decisions in a fast-paced environment, handling customers queries and complaints, and organising and motivating the team. I am also in control of till-reconciliation and banking, stock replenishment and front of house organisation. This is a responsible job as I am trusted to manage a team of employees. We all work as a team and help each other out, which makes work life easier.
