Bad hiring practices - one week after I was hired, management decides to do another round of layoffs. One of the people laid off was the employee who initially trained me. As an intern, the work was gruesome, and it was hardly an environment for a college student.

If you show an interest you can learn a lot, but be prepared for changes being made often.

Really enjoyed working with all of the people at the company. They were very flexible with vacation and we all bonded well making it fun to work there.
|
It is a startup so pay was much less than I had wanted. Many times we were understaffed making your workload occasionally hard to manage. People were reassigned to new positions often disrupting workflow quite a bit. Communication could have been much better between upper management and the rest of the company.

Working here was great, I got to work in a fast-paced start-up environment and gain experience in many areas.

- A lot of passion from management
- Many opportunities to participate in various aspects of R&D
- Co-workers work well together

- The only negative I can think of was that sometimes the workload became literally impossible, which could have been avoided or reduced with better focus from management.

I would recommend the following:
1. Get better at project management, or hire someone to do it. This will help eliminate unnecessary projects, which will prevent employees from burning-out.
2. Buy doughnuts for the office every Friday and/or bagels every Monday. Even though the daily lunch is great since it helps bring everyone together for an hour, and saves people money on lunch, a warm doughnut with some coffee on Friday morning after working 10 hours a day that week really makes a difference.
