It's a small team with a collegial atmosphere. Everyone wears multiple hats, but the pace isn't frantic. The usual small-team pros are also cons depending on the type of job you want. The team was made of up all really good people. They were energetic, engaged and motivated. The work was challenging and and kept me on the tips of my toes. I grew beyond my expectation of my own capabilities. Success and profit is a lot of fun and allows for higher risk taking. The team was fantastic and coming to work everyday was a joy. Kickball on the green, huge multicultural potlucks, group meditations and walks, costume contests, 5ks, amusement parks with friends and family, remote days, dog days and good times. Project failures are not company failures but ... some employees did not emotionally and professionally handle problems well. When the trajectory was upwards with awards and huge profits - genius and magic flowed from all departments. But when the trajectory was flat with development delays, an integration issue or a marketing hurdle it became a growing pain. There weren't any accolades or marks for success. There even seemed to be setbacks. Then new management came in and the entire office vibe changed to a more corporate and structured feel. That would be my advice. Had random food catering and pot lucks. The company changed quite a bit during my time there. Although the casual dress code was great, it just seemed like there was no strategic vision. Employees were also not given the power to make decisions and think for themselves, even though it is a small company. Many felt like they were watching over their shoulder for the CEO to fire them, especially if they disagreed with her thoughts. Casual dress code. Dog friendly environment. Free snacks and drinks, and occasional catered lunches. Owners are humble and nice people, you'll most likely see them in flip flops 99% of the time. Lots of opportunity for growth and experience, especially if you’re the type of person who takes initiative and can remain flexible and roll with the punches. It has the typical growing pains that are expected with a startup environment: lack of structure, lack of training programs. While I was there, there was a lot of trial and error in finding the right structure that made sense for the company. The good news is that it was something they acknowledged that needed improvement, and were proactively trying to solve for it. As I was leaving, they were working on better defining roles and responsibilities, so it's possible they may figured it out by now. It's professional and energetic :) Met great people and became friends with them. Free food and coffee all the time! Good work was rewarded (promotion and raise) I really enjoyed my time at TA.
