A company that doesn't grow up.
|
|
- You can learn so many different things in such a short period of time. --- if you can survive.
- Work from home policy.
- 401k. (after 3 mo probation + 1 year) HMO healthcare, Dental, Vision.
- 1 day Floating Holiday
- Sometimes there are snacks / tea in the office.
- 99% of the people who works there are nice.

- Way, way, way too understaffed. Everyone is working on everything which becomes a stress house and a sweatshop. From accounting to customer service to IT to HR, you will be amazed how many things one human being could do.
- Very stressful environment. You ended up have no time to travel working in a travel agency because your PTO won't start to stack until you pass your 3 month probation. 1 day thanksgiving and 1 day Christmas off. (7 days PTO for a year)
- Company always wants to find cheap solutions on everything. I get it, as a startup you need to control your budget and resource. However, this is a 12+ years old company but still trying to do everything the cheapest way. No structural and everything is still in limbo like a startup, you have to basically figure things out by yourself. Outsource almost everything. I can't believe the core of an OTA is being developed by a low-paying oversea team which results in countless technical debt all over the system. IT team are always so busy they have no time to do the thing other departments wants to do that might actually benefit the company. A request could take forever for them to fix or update.
- Toxic culture. No one wants to speak up about anything and just wait for the titanic sink. Not being able to have casual conversation to care about your colleagues as a person in the office because people actually complains about that. Most of the time people are not talking to each other and there's almost no communications between different departments. You need to (at least look like) you are very busy for the whole 8 hours otherwise people think you don't have enough job to do. No one is there to protect the culture because it doesn't matter.
- No Transparency. No one knows what upper management are doing. Employees have to do lots of guessing on what is going on in the company. btw no promotion unless you say you want to quit.
- KPI is a joke. Wrongly defined most of the time but due to the silent culture no one will say anything . If you are doing good, the company move the finish line. If you are doing bad: sorry no raise this year. Even when you hit your goal, the raise is just too small you ended up thinking why am I trying this hard for the whole year?
- Clock in an Clock out, so you actually ended up spending 9 hours in the office because lunch time won't count.

1. Stay small is not a bad thing, focus on the core of the company and stop dreaming about all those side-projects because that will stress your employee out.
2. Invest more in technology, hire in-house IT team instead of outsource to other country.
3. Hire more people, train them properly in-house instead of building another oversea team which are hard to manage.
4. More inter/inter-department communication.
5. Try to build a healthy culture where employee can actually have fun working in tours4fun.

- I learned a lot by being over-worked and left to flounder among a sea of obligations and responsibilities.
- Nothing stresses me out anymore because I've been as stressed as I can get.
- I know my professional worth.
|
-Payment for work is not processed on time, and can take months or more before being issued correctly.
-Staff are overworked, and under appreciated, with management eager for you to take on extra work with no recognition or incentive.
-Fresh ideas are not accepted.
- There is no sense of teamwork, and even if you try and introduce teamwork, it is not accepted. The 'teams' function as separate entities with no knowledge of what is happening across the business as a whole.
Even teams that SHOULD be working together do not.
- The limited amount of brainstorming that happens in meetings is solely centered around short-term revenue and ROI. If your idea is not an immediate fix, or costs money, it will not be considered.
-Meetings are held unnecessarily, and at ridiculous times.
-It is expected you work overtime, weekends, and public holidays to meet company demands without benefits or payment.
- Requests to meet with management to discuss issues are either flatly ignored, or shot down before they occur.
- The CEO is continuously absent (more than half the year) on 'business' trips that in no way benefit the business itself. He is hard to contact, let alone meet with, and when present in meetings has no idea how his business is functioning, or the various facets that help keep his business running.
He is disrespectful and rude to his staff, and that of of other companies, dismissive of complaints and ignorant to his teams and business identity.
- HR is almost non-existent, and flatly ignore harassment, even when the same issue is formally submitted multiple times.
To be frank, if you're offered the chance to work here, go after a place where you know your skills and professionalism will be appreciated.
This company does not appreciate travel for the true value of seeing the world, but is happy to take money from those who do.
If you choose to work here because you love travel, take your passion elsewhere.

Run the Other Way ... AND Don't Look Back

Company covers 90% of healthcare, but don't think about adding a spouse or child. Healthnet is only slightly better than Covered California, and most of the clinics in the HMO are not even remotely concerned about your health.

The management is essentially dysfunctional, with not even the faintest idea how to create, organize or manage new departments, which eventually implode, leaving the long-term employees to clean up the mess. During interviews the senior director lies through her teeth about how great the company is, giving new employees the false impression that they're some kind of dazzling tech startup with huge potential.
This couldn't be farther from the truth. The truth is the management, IT and marketing are completely ignorant about how e-commerce really works, and have developed a neurotic "sky is falling attitude" to every new tech development they see in the news. The sky is falling pretty much every day, and only the management is to blame.
The CEO is a psychotic good-for-nothing who blames people in account and admin positions for his own wasteful spending. The senior director is hollow, self-serving, and completely at the mercy of the CEO. In other words, not really a senior director as much as a rag doll.
The HR department is only open part-time. When they are open, they're just feeding excuses for the management's bad behavior.
This is not an Equal Opportunity Employer! Everyone in a management position at this company is pure-bred Chinese. If you're not Chinese, don't expect to make it any higher than team lead or supervisor.
Oh and I haven't even mentioned the pay!
Run the other way.
