Good place to work
|
|
Decent pay, extremely intelligent employees, great co-workers in every department
|
Quarter end and year end are hectic and stressful with respect "to making the #"....due almost exclusively the poor planning of Executive management.

It was a big dissapointment.
|
|
Started out great; awesome product idea, talented staff, focused goals and free lunch on top of that. Good salary, lots of stock options and a comfortable, well equipped facility.
|
Then the craziness started; impossible schedules, unrealistic goals, ridiculous bonus programs (10/1010.) Finally came the end; incompetent leadership, layoff and the realization of vapor stock.

Since the company was reopened, I understand that TP needs new employees and feel no surprise at all that no single ex-engineer went back till now.
But please be honest and tell those new guys the truth, show them a decent contract instead of the deceptive one, and show your sincerness (I know this is not TP culture).
Flexible work hours:
1) You had to come in at 8:30am for daily meetings and might leave before 7:30pm;
2) The machine shop had to work almost 3 shifts for months and slept in the office, with little overtime pay;
3) One engineer was asked to come into the office from the hospital when his son was literally 1 DAY old;
4) Engineers were asked to work through Christmas holiday and only take Christmas day off. They had to work on Christmas eve;
5) Engineers pushed new builds into Jenkins at 2am and were still required to come back to work at 8:30am;
6) One Engineer sent PTO request months early for only two days off. They fired him because he took those two days;
7) Told everybody you can carry over all PTO, and then at the end of the year, told everyone use it or lose it;
8) more ...
value your input:
1) I guess every TP employee working there for more than 3 years will never forget 10/10/10. If we could deliver beta version PGF on Sept. 1st, 2012, everybody would be awarded $10K/10K
shares/10-day PTO. Over 2.5 months, everyone worked an average of 70-80 hours/week. What we got? 10/10/10? 8/8/8? or 1/1/1? no, it was 0/0/0. TP valued our input as ZERO. The owner lied right in front of everybody. Before that day, TP was ours, everybody's company. We attached our emotions to it. But after this, it is his company, none cared any more. Faulty design, fine...bugs, who cares!
2) MR who was one of the most hard working engineers there. Over 1.5 years, he worked continuously 60-70 hours per week. He was let go in Nov, 2012. He made no mistakes at all, it was just because the boss did not like him? Firing is the way to value him?
3) AI was the first one who worked on this project. He lost his PTO in 2013, more than 45 days. That was 2.5 months work. You can tell how hard he worked in TP. He was laid off, right? Based on the contract, he took away nothing. Great value on his input.
4) ER who was THE most hard working guy. 70 hours per week over all 3 years. What value for his input? Worrying about losing his job every single minute?
5) JO who worked 90 days straight, finally quit?
5) too long to list ...
From these two points, I can see TP is continuing its old culture, which is "LYING ON EVERYTHING".
By the way, some data on job security:
4 CEOs
4 CFOs
5 VPs of sales
4 VPs of marketing
4 VPs of Engineering over 4 years
more than 100% turnover rate
about 20% layoff in engineering group in Nov, 2012
about 30% layoff over the entire company in Nov, 2013
about 40-50% layoff over the entire company in Feb, 2015
got rid of the rest in May, 2015
Investors lost their money.

Terrible work environment because of the owner
|
|
You get to work with guns
The technology is cool
free drinks and snacks...oh wait they took that away
|
The benefits package was very expensive and they do not match at all in the 401k
The owner is heavily involved and will veto design decision made by engineering
This company has already laid everyone off once and had to close the doors
No job stability whatsoever
They expect you to work crazy hours and be at the beckon call of the owner
They have gone through 3 CEO's and 3 CFO's in 3 years
They don't care about you and you lose your stock however you leave the company
I wish I could give this place no stars

Focus on military sales because that is the only realistic application for the product in the long term

Is This Some Kind of Joke??????
|
|
None that I can think of. They had lots of guns around for us to play with. There were some very talented people working there. The whole deal was really sad.
|
Cons? Really? Wow! Unpaid overtime. Unrealistic delivery dates. Insistence on useless technology. The stock options. The benefits. Clueless management. The CEO had an inappropriate relationship with the marketing lady.

I sincerely hope that the CEO dies before I do. I seriously want to urinate on his grave. I will always wonder what Lupher told his investment buddies on the board when they figured out he had screwed them out of millions of dollars.

Horrible Company!
|
|
Looking back I can't think of much that I would say is a pro except that I got to work at the rifle range often.
|
- We were encouraged to lie to customers about nearly every aspect of the products, from features to delivery dates.
- The products don't live up to what everyone is being told.
- Management has no clue how to sell firearms, how to work with dealers and how to treat employees. Want some more insights look for the perfect rifle that missed it's target.
