Change is possible and Tradesy is a testament to that.
|
|
We recently had an overhaul, the BLM movement caused a lot of open and candid conversation with the exec team. They showed us what it was like to value feedback from every single employee and were proactive about making sure the culture was not just about being pc but about being inclusive and helping BIPOC employees grow in ways where we've always been overlooked. Tracy our CEO is literally a 'take the shirt off my back' kind of person but has for a while been perceived as just another privileged woman with a company to call her own. There are so many pros now, amazing benefits, minimum salaries (way above market value. the salaries section is no longer current), so much room to grow, and a recent favorite wfh with the possibility of relocation. The people here are very chill, positive and best of all hard-workers. You will see a lot of diversity when it comes to management. Employees are met with so much empathy when concerns are shared. I've seen so many versions of Tradesy but I can confidently say we are at our current best and I don't think there is any going back. The team is tiny but more powerful than ever. My last favorite bit is that there is always transparency and I'm talking being privy to things most employees wouldn't know about, this makes you feel like your hard work matters and excited about the future of recycled fashion.

Tradesy is a stagnant company that is losing market share daily with little hope of profitability. This lack of a future is strongly reflected in company culture. Turnover is stunning. Nearly all of upper management has turned over recently, creating a very chaotic and inconsistent environment across teams. New staff is promised but not hired and there is no room for growth on most teams. Funding has been stagnant. If you should interview, be sure to ask how Tradesy will rise ahead of its competition and think about the response carefully.

Best Job I've Had in Years

Coming in to Tradesy when I did, I was able to build out projects the way I saw best fit the company's ecosystem. I was allowed to be completely autonomous in my role and decided everything I would work on. I always had the complete backing of my manager and their trust to make the best decisions possible on which direction I planned to head.
WORK LIFE BALANCE
Because of how autonomous I was allowed to work, I would show up and leave whenever I needed. Some days, I'd show up for a few hours and then head home. As long as work was getting done, there is not a huge amount of pressure or oversight. It's extremely lax.
DOG FRIENDLY
I brought my dog every day. My pup, like 99% of them in the office, would just hang out in bed and wait for people to come play or say hi.
EVERYONE is extremely friendly. Though it was the nature of my job to get to know every person on the team, I can say this group of people have been the most kind I've ever worked with.
COMPANY PERKS
Happy hours, team lunches, daily catered lunches, weekly game nights, weekly yoga sessions, daily push-up meetups, stocked fridge, and as much coffee as you could ever need.
Every job is what you make of it. Working at Tradesy made it easy to make the most of every day. Working at Tradesy was extremely rewarding and I miss it dearly.

Growth paths are also not extremely well defined and it can be difficult to gain clarity around this. This seems to be true across different departments in the company.
There are not a ton of opportunities to stop and celebrate the little wins.
