The HR department is involved in the employees’ career and has regular contact with them.
There is room to learn and suggest ideas.

No framework is used, everything is in-house so improving knowledge on some technologies other than Java can be difficult.
Some of the code base is a little outdated and in dire need of cleanup/best practices implementation.
It can be difficult to evolve in your role if you want to be involved in more than just development.

It would be interesting to listen to some of your employees trying to implement best practices and introduce more recent technologies to help maintain the applications in the long run with less inertia about it. Developers need to be more involved in what the need actually is so they can adapt the development to it (that might mean changing the type of profiles you hire).

There's work-life balance. If you're trying to just get by doing absolutely no work, then TradingScreen is the perfect place for you.

The company is run by old guys who think they know what they're doing.
It seems every week someone is leaving the company and I don't blame them.
It's also ridiculous how much time HR spends on writing fake reviews here... I don't think there's a single 5-star review that's real. Notice how all of the fake reviews read the same. The titles are all almost identical. They list no cons. Five-star given for every single rating. You can even see a few phrases repeated on the reviews.
Don't believe their lies.
Work has been easier since the lockdown happened as you can get away with doing absolutely nothing and no one cares. Don't have to deal with the dress code.
Yes, it's 2021 and TradingScreen has a dress code that everyone must follow.
There's no training and the company is completely disorganized. You just have to figure out how to do things on your own. I find that a lot of my coworkers have an arrogant demeanor. Just a bunch of old men flexing their ego at each other. You just hear people bantering throughout work about the new thing they purchased, the trades they made, etc.
One guy even attempted to cheat at a company weight loss challenge. Absolutely pathetic.
Senior management is incompetent and only got the position they're in because of time spent within the company, and not because they deserve it. That's why the turnover rate for new employees are high. There's no career opportunity here for you. I highly doubt the company will exist within the next decade.
Walk around the office and you'll see people watching YouTube videos, streaming sport events, on social media, reading news articles, etc. There's no sense of urgency and I can't reiterate this enough--a lot of people are trying to get by doing as little work as possible here.
Don't make the same mistake as me and many other of my coworkers. If you believe that a job is better than nothing, than you're sadly mistaken. Working here is like taking two steps back. Just keep searching and find another opportunity.
