Strayed too far from their mission. Anti-WFH stance.

Mission of the company on the surface is that they are trying to do the right thing, but they miss the mark completely.
|
This place felt like going back to Highschool.
Constant gossip, emails would get spread around for managers to say "This could have been worded better" only to put you in a state of "email paralysis". You would be having lunch with co-workers and laughing, only for someone to go to the CEO and tell on you that you made too much of a commotion in the lunch room.
Pre-COVID: "Work From Home" was handled VERY poorly. Teams could have select individuals be full work remote 100%, but under no circumstance could you work from home. Every Friday, the office would be at 20% capacity but the people who showed up were all the low level office employees. Put simply, this company does not want its employees working from home. As February'20 rolled around.... "We are all going to get COVID together and drink tea" was the company philosophy.
COVID-Era: Then March'20... Managers stop showing up to work first two weeks of the month. Company notices go out "Stay home if you feel sick, do not come to work wearing a mask they are not proven to be effective and we do not want to scare our employees". Ask human resources "Can we work remote during the pandemic?" - NO was their answer. March 16th - Sonoma County enters lock down. Each Friday work ends the week with the same note "We miss you soo much and are doing everything in our power to get you back asap!!!". Hey I am sorry there is a pandemic going around, if we can work from home lets do it?? Come end of May - work develops a plan to return its essential employees to work (mind you: we've been doing our job with no issues last two months). Have legal and HR develop signed notices for employees to mandate an office return. Not all employees have to return to work, but WFH is being removed from their lesser "peons".
TM.... it hurt me seeing how the company is growing, how far away it is missing the mark. You strive to push for equal treatment of women in India picking your tea, only to completely create a third-world country in your office. I only wrote this that maybe it could plant some tea-seed out there that could grow into a tree and create the company you want it to be.

Special is how I’d describe TM. A truly warm place to work. Incredibly kind CEO and C level group. Salad bars on tuesdays and wednesdays, organic snacks, sparking water and kombucha on tap. Kind group of co-workers. The company is growing and working on a lot of innovative tea items. Exciting times!

Lots of approvals needed to get projects done or make changes but if you have a business case and keep with it, not impossible!

Great employees and great environment

The employees are among the most genuine people I have ever had the pleasure of working with. CEO is phenomenal and high ranking executives are always able to chat which is a huge change of pace from larger companies. Also a great herb garden to walk around during breaks.
