Great people, poor leadership
Fair compensation, lovely people to work with, plenty of colleagues who want to do good work, interesting product for an engineer.
No mentorship, poor management, top-down leadership, lack of product and design resources

Good overall product to sell, real need in the market.
Need to work on market positioning. Messaging changed 2-3 times during my tenure, making it hard to maintain success across the revenue org. Down funding rounds and big misses on annual goals.

An awesome marketing team to work with
The people at Tray are simply the best — all of them.
The product is very innovative and in an interesting field, automation. It's not "just another software company."
The leadership team is transparent, smart, and approachable.
Like many other tech companies out there, they've gone through their share of layoffs and RIFs, which has led to some disorganization around the company.

Lack of Leadership Skills
The product organization is great and carries the company- exceptional people who are brilliant and team players.
The company is lost- teams work in silos, no now is help accountable, roles and responsibilities are not clear, and leadership takes a dictatorship approach rather than an inclusive one.

Lots of potential, slow growth
Great product, smart people, respectful environment with good work life balance.
Product strategy constantly changes not allowing enough time for new approaches to show results, bottomline suffers as an outcome.

Avoid this place. Bleak future ahead.
Agile, remote-friendly, product has potential
Very much a startup (take that as you will). The company’s strategy (GTM, pricing, marketing, etc) is constantly changing, especially if it doesn’t yield results within a quarter — this makes it incredibly difficult for sellers to sell the value of the product. Lack of accountability for people in the “in group”. Lots of big egos and lack of self awareness (people will double down on being wrong, and leadership enables this behavior). Executive leaders in way over their heads. Multiple rounds of layoffs. Lack of respect for boundaries from colleagues. Low wages and meh benefits when compared to similar roles at similar sized organizations.

Hold your people accountable instead of constantly looking for scapegoats. Leadership needs to remember that they have a business to run, and they should keep people on board for the value and expertise they bring to the table, not just for the sake of maintaining “friendships”.
