I wouldn't know where to start, but being a lifetime sales veteran, I'll say that I've seen this all before in "merged" companies, typically just before they close or sell. Notice most all of your negative reviews are from sales? Those issues almost always start at the top. Good luck.

Great benefits... but only for the owner.

There are some great people who work here.
|
NO paid time off until you have put in an entire year, and then only 5 days. Managers pressure you to use your vacation days, even when you would prefer to take a few hours off unpaid (to go to doctor or kid's ball game). Then, when you do run out of paid time, you are threatened with demotion for not working a full work week. No pay raises EVER for non-management employees, but company pays for extravagant meals, trips, new cars for owner and his family/cronies. No performance reviews, so you have no idea how you are doing. They won't reimburse you for jury duty. IT consists of one guy who refuses to delegate, and can't figure out even the most basic network problems. One catastrophic network outage put business on hold for days (everyone was sent home without pay) and yet there are no changes to IT staffing. There is no corporate org chart, so it's anyone's guess who does what. We're told to answer the phones "in a professional manner" but then also told not to transfer calls because no one wants to talk to people outside the company.

Your employees are your greatest asset. It is in your best interest to cultivate relationships and REWARD those employees. Implementing austerity measures is fine when the economy is tight, but when those apply ONLY to non-management employees without any belt-tightening at the top you aren't fooling anyone. You will lose the very people who are the key to your continued success.
Establish reasonable, common sense HR policies with clear consequences or rewards. CONSISTENTLY enforce rules, which should apply to ALL employees. You need an HR Team of more than one person and an IT staff of more than one person. Your 'confidential hotline' should be outsourced to an impartial third party, not staffed by employees. And your policy of withholding accrued vacation time upon termination is illegal in Michigan, Indiana and Illinois.
