-Irresponsible leadership (mass downsizing previous month, because of management's strategic incapabilities of planning ahead their financial expenses). The way it was done was simply gross, a big number of motivated, great professionals were sent away (from marketing, sales, learning). It was totally unexpected by everyone, CEO just out of the blue read up the names of fired people at a large meeting in a very very awkward way. This was everything but professional.
-Terrible morale (because of the cut, nobody feels safe anymore, nor about the general direction of the company), which was previously unimaginable. There are big questionmarks regarding future and it's in the air that there's still more people are about to be sent away.
-Workflow process is a disaster, we need to change so many things and nobody is truly taking the leadership or the responsibility to do so. The cuts emphasized this matter even further and now as people are afraid for their positions, no initiatives are raised because they don't want to confront anyone.

Motivating and fun, would recommend to anyone

Pros are the overall good mood, the morale of management and the employees, the faith in the common goal we all work for. Humorous banters and endless snacks in the kitchen, deep connections growing out of the workplace. Everybody is young and dinamic, the work is done, the feedbacks are reflected on, and we get to enjoy a beer together at the end of the day. It is refreshing to work with a team such as Tresorit's.

Tresorit is growing as fast as any fine startups do, and it is starting to lose that nice family atmoshphere. With all the new employees coming it is difficult to keep up and form such close and informal relationships as it was common before.
Also I gained some weight from all the free snacks (jk)

When I joined the company 6 years ago, we were just couple of guys in their early twenties trying to make something good while finishing Masters at the university.
A lot of time passed since then, hundreds of thousands of lines of code has been written and now we are a company of more than 100 people.

Incredibly smart team, sense of ownership and responsibility even on junior level, challenging competitive conditions

Team: A huge chunk of the team joined Tresorit in the early days after outstanding academic performance (some of them were even pursuing academic career in computer science back then). They are creative, inspiring, motivated, fun and has invaluable knowledge on their specific field. In time of growth, the team succeeded to attract employees with similar characteristics. I personally loved spending time with the colleagues as they were young, fresh and had interesting and diverse fields of interests.
Culture: Knowledge is honored above all. They launched a learning program, which is totally tailored to the individuals, the content is discussed with the direct manager and employees get days off and budget for learning.
Tasks: If someone wants to get more responsibility it is appreciated. Even junior colleagues have the sense of ownership for their smaller projects and get evaluated not only about their actual work but how they organize the process. When a feature is decided to be developed, the development process involves little bureaucracy and there are no rigid processes.
Business model/market conditions: the market it is serving is highly competitive and figuring out the strategy to succeed is very challenging. If you are in a marketing position you can have real influence on this, to an extent you would not have in a bigger organization.

High-impact decisions take a lot of time on management level and this causes uncertainty on lower levels sometimes
Do not expect promotions quickly (in the sense of people management): even years of experience with the company won't mean leading a small group of people as the organization is flat and there are already smaller teams which can grow with the same number of leaders.
