<p><strong>About the Design Systems team</strong></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Retool designers make decisions that will affect millions of people, from the developers creating software to the employees who operate it every day. Instead of designing just one product, we’re effectively designing unique software products for thousands of companies across many different verticals.&nbsp;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This also presents a unique design challenge. Because it’s possible to build nearly anything in Retool, we don’t have absolute control over how our users experience the product. We’re constantly seeking just the right balance between convention and configuration, between technical expressiveness and conceptual simplicity.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As Lead Product Designer and founding member of this team, you’ll have the opportunity to establish a lot of firsts—from formalizing the documentation and use of our design system to helping establish the structure and culture of the team. Your team will connect product, engineering, and design by establishing the design patterns, tools, and processes that enable product teams to move quickly and raise the bar of quality and consistency across Retool.</span></p>
<p><strong>What you’ll do at Retool</strong></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Work with product designers, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop the tools and processes needed to build a world-class design system</span></li>

<div>Retool is looking for a strong Revenue Accounting Lead to join our growing accounting team in San Francisco. Reporting to the Controller, the Revenue Accounting Lead will be the focal point on revenue recognition, playing an integral role in our revenue accounting processes, working cross functionally with our sales and revenue operations team and other key stakeholders. This role will help build and uphold revenue recognition standards for Retool. We will also look to you to help us build processes, develop controls, and identify opportunities for automation that will help us scale. Finally, as a fast-growing business, there will be opportunities to lead special projects, which will enable you to expand your skill set while helping Retool build new accounting capabilities.</div>

<li>Serve as the subject matter expert on ASC 606 revenue accounting, establishing formal revenue related accounting policies in accordance with US GAAP</li>
<li>Prepare technical revenue accounting memos in compliance with US GAAP, and monitor relevant US GAAP developments to ensure revenue recognition policies are in compliance</li>
<li>Review, document, and communicate any revenue impacts for customer contracts in accordance with Retool's revenue recognition policies and ASC 606</li>
<li>Own all month-end close journal entries and work papers for Revenue, AR and related accounts</li>
<li>Work cross functionally to standardize procedures and drive process improvements to streamline revenue accounting operations and reporting</li>
<li>Participate in revenue and billing systems automation, improvement and optimization</li>
<li>Contribute to strategic development of the accounting function and help build a team responsible for the revenue recognition cycle</li>

<p><strong>THE SKILLSET YOU'll BRING:&nbsp;</strong></p>

<li>8+ years of relevant experience</li>
<li>Deep understanding of ASC 606 principles and US GAAP</li>
<li>Mix of Big 4 and SaaS industry revenue accounting experience is a plus</li>

<li>Help build and maintain contracting playbooks, templates, wikis, and other tools that help streamline our commercial processes and create leverage for the Legal team</li>
<li>Advise business partners on a range of commercial legal issues and risks</li>
<li>Monitor and analyze changes in the law and legal risks to ensure we comply with applicable laws and regulations</li>
<li>Shape our approach to IP, third-party complaints, and privacy and data protection in the context of our commercial agreements</li>
<li>Collaborate with internal partners across the business including Sales, Success, and Finance&nbsp;</li>
<li>Develop training and other informational materials to educate the team on key contract issues, legal processes, compliance, and data privacy topics</li>
<li>Oversee relationships with outside counsel and efficiently manage costs</li>

<li>JD degree or foreign equivalent with membership in at least one US state bar</li>
<li>4+ years of experience as a practicing attorney, including work at a top-tier law firm and/or as in-house legal counsel for a leading technology company</li>
<li>Deep experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements, including SaaS, licensing, consulting, joint development and reseller/distributor agreements as well as data protection agreements</li>
<li>Solid understanding of international data privacy and data protection laws including CCPA, GDPR, and HIPAA</li>
<li>Excellent drafting, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex technical and legal concepts for a range of audiences</li>

<p>You’ll drive full-cycle recruiting, from sourcing to closing candidates, for several teams at Retool. You’ll partner with our hiring managers to identify top talent, effectively build and refine processes, and bring new hires into the business. You’ll also help educate about best practices and how to best work with you. You’ll have tools at your disposal (think LinkedIn Recruiter, Gem, etc.) and you’ll leverage your sourcing skills to find and engage candidates.&nbsp;</p>
<p>You’ll use your past experience hiring within startups to navigate nuanced candidate situations, facilitate hiring decisions, and deliver unmatched candidate experience. But you won’t do it alone—the whole team will fully support you and more than ever, you’ll have the agency to drive, build meaningful relationships, and create hiring initiatives the way you envision them.&nbsp;</p>
<p>As the company grows, so will our needs. We’ll leverage your skills (and hopefully your network, too!) to grow our recruiting team. You’ll have say in who we hire and how we structure our team.</p>

<p>Since developers can build almost anything on Retool, our documentation needs to be just as flexible. Retool's products and features combine different concepts and technologies—frontend development, API and database interactions, on-premise deployment, and more. We strive to produce instructional, reference-based, and in-app documentation that makes Retool easy to use while demonstrating its limitless potential.</p>
<h4 id="What-you’ll-do" data-renderer-start-pos="983">WHAT YOU'LL DO</h4>
<p data-renderer-start-pos="999">As a technical writer, you'll produce high-quality and engaging content that unlocks the full potential of Retool and helps developers succeed. In addition, you'll work closely with engineers to document new products and features, identify opportunities to improve Retool’s documentation experience and collaborate with user-facing teams and other content creators.</p>
<p data-renderer-start-pos="1366">You'll also be an early member of our fast-growing documentation team, where you'll have significant influence in shaping our processes, objectives, culture, and growth.</p>
<h4 id="In-this-role,-you’ll:" data-renderer-start-pos="1537"><strong>IN THIS ROLE, YOU'LL:</strong></h4>
<ul data-indent-level="1">
<li>Document new products and features, from instructional guides and API descriptions to in-app content.</li>
<li>Develop new processes and guidelines that help us produce high-quality and effective documentation.</li>
<li>Maintain our documentation and ensure it best helps our customers, and reflects well on our brand and product.</li>
<li>Expand the concept of documentation beyond written content that caters to different learning styles.</li>
<li>Advocate for the documentation experience and push the team forward with improvements to content creation, tooling, and analysis.</li>
</ul>
<h4 id="The-skillset-you'll-bring:" data-renderer-start-pos="2122"><strong>THE SKILLSET YOU'LL BRING:</strong></h4>
<ul data-indent-level="1">
<li>4+ years of experience writing technical documentation, ideally at a fast-growing startup.</li>
<li>Proficient writing and editing skills, with experience using and defining style guidelines.</li>
<li>Ability to understand technical concepts quickly and communicate them clearly.</li>
<li>A track record of researching, planning, and writing content, developing effective information architecture, and collaborating cross-functionally with stakeholders to deliver on documentation needs.</li>
<li>Can thrive in ambiguity, independently prioritize work based on user needs and business goals, and be an advocate for the documentation experience.</li>
<li>A user-first mindset, with an interest in talking with customers and collaborating with stakeholders to make sure we're meeting the needs of our users.</li>
<li>Proficient with Markdown and git-based documentation (“docs as code”) workflows.</li>
<li>Experience or understanding of REST or GraphQL APIs, and SQL databases.</li>
<li>Exposure to JavaScript and SQL.</li>
