I didn't have a direct "film" supervisor, my supervisor was the communications/marketing director. Therefore, I had to learn a lot on my own and answer my own questions, even if it meant spending hours on youtube to learn something. However, everybody there was welcoming and the work culture was inviting and friendly, with group outings often. It taught me how to work with teams, but also how to be incredibly independent. 0.0 0.0 4.0 4.0 4.0 3.0 3.0 3.0 Feb 2nd, 2021 01:56PM Mar 19th, 2021 08:02PM U.S. Green Building Council

Unfortunately the benefits and lack of growth opportunity were not great. The environment definitely encouraged innovation and furthering your education which was nice. My role was also completely remote which aided in home work life balance. When new management took over the organization's goals shifted and less benefits became available so I had to leave. Would certainly recommend to anyone who can get benefits elsewhere affordably. 0.0 0.0 4.0 5.0 4.0 3.0 4.0 4.0 Feb 2nd, 2021 01:56PM Mar 19th, 2021 08:30PM U.S. Green Building Council

However what was once a great environment to work sadly became quite toxic as the decisions of leadership negatively effected revenue generation and market penetration leaving a large swath of disgruntled employees who started leaving en masse. 1.0 0.0 3.0 5.0 2.0 3.0 4.0 2.0 Feb 2nd, 2021 01:56PM Mar 20th, 2021 01:23PM U.S. Green Building Council

I've been interning here and I think it is a great place to work! The atmosphere in the office is second to none. Everyone I met has been really nice too. However, I am an intern and I do not get paid. great atmosphere, nice people, mission-driven work, free coffee unpaid 0.0 2.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 2.0 2.0 5.0 Feb 2nd, 2021 01:56PM Mar 19th, 2021 08:56PM U.S. Green Building Council
private:u.s.greenbuildingcouncil https://www.indeed.com/cmp/u.s.-green-building-council/reviews Dec 28th, 2018 12:00AM Open Open U.S. Green Building Council Associate Washington USA Would not recommend USGBC is, by far, the most ridiculously frustrating experience of my life. I went in as Associate, harboring big dreams of making a niche in the sustainability environment. But all I got at USGBC were stupidly ultra-competitive teammates and an extremely insecure and poor manager. Leadership was wishy-washy when I approached them. HR was ineffective and selfish. The organization needs to promote only those people who are secure in their own life and accomplishments. Instead, leadership sides with the insecures and kicks me out instead. I could’ve filed a lawsuit. 6.0 0.0 1.0 1.0 2.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 Feb 2nd, 2021 01:56PM Mar 19th, 2021 09:17PM U.S. Green Building Council
private:u.s.greenbuildingcouncil https://www.indeed.com/cmp/u.s.-green-building-council/reviews Nov 20th, 2018 12:00AM Open Open U.S. Green Building Council Certification Reviewer Washington, DC USA Passionate and committed workforce There isn't a more dedicated group of people committed to environmental sustainability. The corporate structure is tough to navigate and skills outside of review production are not often utilized. Passionate and committed workforce. Compensation is low and not regularly reviewed. 2.0 0.0 3.0 2.0 3.0 3.0 3.0 3.0 Feb 2nd, 2021 01:56PM Mar 20th, 2021 04:16PM U.S. Green Building Council

The management tries to facilitate collaboration as much as possible, but it is primarily an independent job. Excellent healthcare benefits, flexible hours/schedule Pay could be more competitive, opportunities for advancement are limited 0.0 3.0 4.0 5.0 4.0 3.0 3.0 3.0 Feb 2nd, 2021 01:56PM Mar 20th, 2021 01:57PM U.S. Green Building Council

That being said, some of the work can be very interesting and some can be very monotonous. There is often difficulty when trying to work collaboratively across departments as each tend to have their own standard operating procedure. More generally, most people are friendly and it certainly is not a bad place to work. I enjoyed it. If you're considering a job at USGBC, you probably already have an idea if it's the kind of place you'd enjoy working. 0.0 0.0 3.0 3.0 3.0 3.0 3.0 3.0 Feb 2nd, 2021 01:56PM Mar 19th, 2021 10:18PM U.S. Green Building Council

It was a great place to obtain some experience, especially when you want to enter the green building and environment field. I found that many people work remotely at least one day in a week. It is very flexible to schedule your work days. Free tea. Nice kitchen.
