Long hours, weird expectation to stay past 630 if the CEO is in the office despite having no work to complete for hours
CEO is not fun to work for, hot head and extremely uncomfortable to work with at times. Treats his senior team like crap, despite the work they put in beyond normal business hours and treats the originators even worse.
Company ethics are nonexistent and employees are often kept in the dark about anything going on in the firm. Has driven out some really good people over the past few years.
Pay increases and bonuses are handled very questionably, don't expect a big bump.

All of the promises that were made during the interview process will turn out to be lies. There used to be a smart, young core of employees but almost all have left.
|
-The company is pretending they have money to lend although their investors have parted ways due to disorganization within the firm that starts with the CEO.
-The CEO will promise the world during an interview but not deliver on any of it. He is in it for himself, does not pay his employees what was promised, and makes the few senior employees left at the company cower to his tyranny.
-Turnover is greater at this company than any other place of employment I have seen or heard of, for good reason.
-Underwriters and originators are forced to lie to clients to put on a facade that UC Funds has capital to lend when they don't.

Very high attrition at all levels due to little respect for employee’s time/well-being from the top. You're expected stay until 6:30 every day regardless of work load. Relative to the rest of the industry the pay is below market. Originators do not receive a bonus - although everyone else does. The bonuses are consistently lighter than advertised too and the benefits are poor as well. Leadership is uninspiring and forced/awkward when trying to be. Flimsy ethics. Lending programs are not what are advertised and re-trading borrowers before closing is common.

I had much more that was redacted here in order to meet community guidelines. Just be aware that it's an absolutely horrific work environment beyond my opinions below.
Turnover - it only takes a quick linkedin search to see how many top execs/employees have left the company. Place is completely unstable.
CEO - dictatorial leader and completely loose cannon who can fly off the handle at any minute. Employees need to walk on eggshells at all times. You’ll notice on Glassdoor that 0% of employees approve of the the job that's being done. All of the senior executive team are fearful for their jobs, so this behavior goes completely unchecked.
Pavlovian conditioning – Lunches are provided to the company; however, no one can touch the lunch when it arrives. Every employee is required to wait until the lunch bell (email) is rung. If the bell is forgotten, as can often happen, then most people just wind up going out for their own lunch as opposed to waiting all day for the bell.
Pay/Bonus - Well below market and never to the level as discussed before hiring.
Advertising/Marketing/PR - UC is the only small firm I know that needs multiple people retained full-time to manage PR/Marketing/Social Media. This should speak volumes.

I was trying to think of advice that would have a tangible influence on the betterment of UC Funding, but this is a completely top-down issue starting with the CEO. So, my advice, unfortunately, is much like the many others that have left before you (as discussed in the turnover section), you should leave too ---Or, if you're a job seeker, never come in the first place.
