Great team and interesting product

The team and workplace culture are the best parts of Universe. Everyone is really friendly, supports each other, and there are regular socials to keep the culture fun and the team close.
The company provides solid benefits, decent salary and flexibility. There is some structure and meetings in the day-to-day, but the management team really cares about efficiency and usually tries to keep meetings focused and to the minimum.
And lastly, even though the product has quite a bit of legacy, a lot of the projects are interesting and innovative within the events industry. Even after 2020, I believe and hope that Universe has a bright future.

Being owned by Ticketmaster, there can (unsurprisingly) be some slowness/bureaucracy when it comes to decision making. But it’s honestly nowhere near as bad as it may seem from the outside. I’ve generally been pretty happy with their backing/leadership.
The biggest downside I can think of is the often slow career advancement. There have been quite a few people that worked diligently for a long time, but with very slow to no promotion. Obviously, it’s been a difficult year, but this goes beyond just 2020.

As things start getting back to normal, be more proactive at rewarding diligent work. The team is what makes the company as good as it is and it’s a shame when people leave because they didn’t feel appreciated and rewarded.
