Dining services has the highest turnover rate out of all campus jobs for students because it consists of constant manual labor. There are many opportunities for advancement and working up to becoming a student supervisor will look amazing on any resume. The unit managers and dining hall staff can be hit or miss but most of them care about helping out and making sure the student workers aren't burnt out.

phenomenal benefits - ok pay
|
I have learned so very much as this was my first job out of grad school. It has allowed me to add many skills to my CV that will set me up for future work but this is not going to be my forever job. There is essentially no room for advancement without pursuing another post-graduate degree and without university wide salary programs - no pay raises even with the cost of living increasing every year. With that being said, the other benefits are great. Generous PTO (4 days/month - 2 vacation + 2 sick), great health insurance, a modest life insurance policy (equal to your salary), plus others I'm forgetting.

Worked as a graduate research assistant. There were a lot of beneficial programs to help support students. Depends on your department of course, but overall it's a nice place to work and get a degree.

Decent pay for college job
|
The work was not too difficult but I never was able to meet with my boss. I communicated everything through a grad student researcher. Hours were very flexible and I was able to work any amount of hours I wanted within a range.
