The benefits and time off are nice.

The pay is actually kind of terrible. I requested a certain amount and was offered lower. I have a lot of experience, but clearly it meant nothing to the University of Maryland. If your department has so called a lot of money, what wrong with paying your employees a fair amount to equate their experience level.
Tax deductions are a lot also.

Working as a TypeWell transcriber at UMD is a pretty good gig
|

My supervisor is very conscientious and fair. The pay is competitive. The faculty are great and the classes are interesting for the most part. The campus is lovely.
And even though my hours were cut drastically once the campus shut down in March of 2020 in response to the coronavirus pandemic, I still got paid for my full workload through the end of that semester.
