Other than that, everyone loves working at Montevallo that I have spoken to and I have spoken to many. You can get free classes after 6 months, which is a huge perk to offset the pay. HR will support you. Loved everything about it. Free tuition for full time employees after 6 months, TRS eligible even at part-time, decent benefits for full time. Great work atmosphere but Grounds Department does not get paid well, for what they are required to do. Did not get one raise in the three years I was there. Good insurance, lots of paid time off. Even then, I did not receive a written offer. The department was heavily skewed toward one demographic and gender with a great deal of false showmanship about openness and diversity, but poor delivery on enabling a diverse workspace when hiring personnel (at least this was the case in my department). Despite excellent student evaluations and encouragement from administrators, I experienced little incentive as a member of the LGBT community to hope for better treatment. Horrible place to work. Awful pay, and no overtime. Mangers and supervisors were only there to get their state retirement. Definitely don’t care about the lower people on in the workforce no matter what they say. Because it had been several months since i had applied. My time at the student health resources office at the university of Montevallo was short and comfortable. Though I did not stay at the university for very long, I was able to work and educate myself in a diverse setting. My employers and coworkers always made me feel secure while learning new skills and office equipment necessary for my job.
