It was quite fast-paced, a lot of time standing, and could be stressful if orders were behind. Had to learn quickly, some of us were better at picking it up than others. I enjoyed how quickly time passed when we were busy. Good managers when I worked there, and flexible work schedule. My experience is with the Center of Public Management which handles multiple contracts, mostly from the state's Wellfare programs. Ex. You also get paid less than similar positions in the community. However, if you are looking for a long term employer, great benefits and a pension program, this is the place for you. There are plenty of jobs on campus, so once you're hired, if you don't like where you are, there are plenty of other clinics or areas to work in. You get to help people. A lot of the buildings are new, so you are likely to work in a pleasant place. Can be fast paced or stressful depending on your job. In my many years working there, I felt appreciated at most of the clinics I worked in. If you're there more than 15 years, you'll have 5 weeks sick leave/vacation every year (you start out with three). No raises, no promotions, no transfers - once you get here, you're stuck! Blatantly sexist, racist, and agist - supervisors and management turn a blind eye to any of those issues and blame the victim for the problem. Free meal, free money for 401k, almost free single health insurance. I enjoyed working with the faculty, staff, and students.
