Not too bad
Good in-store environment. Other stores in the market will assist when needed and are very friendly.
Platforms used for POS and other essentials keep getting changed unnecessarily. Sometimes corporate doesn’t feel like they listen to any feedback. New upper management changed a lot when coming onboard to the point where sales were hurting across the company.

Pre-pandemic, the company had great potential
Great discount, most of the people were good to work with (both retail and HQ), nice product, easy relocation (if applicable) within the retail fleet as there are plenty of stores, general task work was not difficult, mostly standard retail. Pre-COVID, the company was cool, great teams, and if you're were successful and worked hard, it was fairly easy to move up in the company.
The 2020 pandemic really pushed this company down a hill. Salaries were cut, team counts were cut, a lot of "we can't" became the new company motto. Those of us at the retail stores for the couple years that followed struggled due to more than minimal coverage. If someone wanted to go on vacation (which of course, they could), that would sometimes leave one person at the store by themselves to assist all customers for the day when in reality 3-8 employees were needed. My location was highly successful during this time in all categories, but we were burning out and they company couldn't understand why. I hope there has been some positive changes since I left, but there weren't just echoes of the pandemic when I left, because it still felt like nothing had changed. Both pre and post pandemic, pay was very low for those at the retail level, especially when being asked to find success in all new initiatives, including Hero (now Klarna live chat), BOSS, SMS Clienteling, and general retail/customer service duties. These tasks in general are not hard, but with lack of team and resources, it felt nearly impossible. In 2021, they made a cool new initiative that all stores, regardless of state, would start their retail part-timers at $15/hour. This was great except for the fact that states like California and NYC, this was already the minimum wage, which meant that in their most expensive areas, they were underpaying their employees.
It's important to note that, pre-pandemic. the company was pretty cool and a great place to move up.

Look to your stores, understand that retail has still not found true new forecasts in 2024 and will probably take another year to truly create new trends. Understand what you're asking your retail teams to do and pay them for it. Sure, it won't be as high as some huge volume retailers out their, but find time to go and work a shift at a store at minimal coverage for a day, and make sure you understand that it's not always possible to do everything. Don't make the expectation 100% for everyday when you're not always giving the resources, and then telling them that 100% isn't possible. If it isn't possible, then it shouldn't be the expectation.

The pay was good for a retail job
Massive Homophobia and Transphobia from upper management. Basically, unless you are a straight-cis-white man, this probably isn't the job for you. If you are a woman be prepared to be told your dress is inappropriate just because you have a woman's body. I worked here too long.

Great customers! That was the favorite part of my job.
Low pay, horrible bonus structure, high expectations for the store manager and would not empower the assistant at all to do anything. No accountability for attendance, every time you asked a question you were never given an answer. Now that they are opening new store, they are closing others. Please don’t jump on this sinking ship.

Hold team members accountable, don’t open new stores just to close others. Be truthful to your staff about inventory levels. PAY MORE!! You get what you pay for that’s why your turn is huge.

Corporate expectations on a minimal budget
Great mentors and genuine ambition to always be improving.
Minimal budget often meant lofty expectations were forced on understaffed teams. Too many hats for too few individuals to be successful. Not competitive enough in the wage market to hire the right help.

If you can comprise a team of previous workers from previous jobs you might be successful but trying to find new talent to carry the weight of expectations on minimum pay will be difficult.

Great job!
I actually loved it because it was people that came in to buy and the sales were easy since they knew what they were looking for. There’s commission on top of the great pay plus fat bonuses.
The fitting rooms don’t have mirrors so you have to make the customers comfortable to come out and see themselves in the mirror outside which sometimes cost a sale.

Great district manager.
Room for growth if you put the work in.
Tough sale goals to meet on top of other things such as online chatting, receiving inventory, and daily store functions. Not the most flexible schedule. Pay could have been a lot better for the responsibilities given.

Boring Job
It is mindless and easy.
The job entails a lot of folding shirts into bags and putting them in bins in the stockroom and steaming out garments. Sometimes you feel like you work at a dry-cleaners instead of a retail store.
