Academic faculty are incredible, cooperative, compassionate, and hard-working. Most of the non-clinical staff are wonderful to work with and are truly caring individuals.
|
It is amazing that they are an academic center and their entire mission is to be the largest general (read: profitable) hospital in the county. Employees are undervalued and underappreciated. It is like they are competing with RGH instead of the other academic centers in like-sized cities in western NY (SUNY Upstate, University of Buffalo).

This job allows you to learn about the broad scope of mental illnesses, there are a lot of benefits that come with working for strong, good vacation time, and I love some of my coworkers.

Hours of work make it very hard to have a balanced lifestyle, the pay is horrible, there are extreme safety concerns with violent patients as well as infectious patients, hierarchy of positions, not great recognition of roles.
