Being a part of the Olympic movement is the best part of the job. You do have resources at your fingertips through the United States Olympic and Paralympic committee. Management does not understand that having multiple locations for offices does not help the organization be cohesive. It is also expected that when an employee leaves other employees will help to cover that person’s job without ever actually rehiring the position. Staff are challenged to think outside the box and be creative. Much more of a business focus to try and grow the bottom line and invest in USA Volleyball programs. Great colleagues. Fun to work in a sport that I love and one that is growing so rapidly. private:usolympians&paralympiansassociation https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=1054590 Jun 28th, 2018 12:00AM Open Open USA Volleyball NGB's in general are way too dysfunctional (WARNING to anyone seeking employment for an NGB) occasionally you get time to relax at your desk when the building is not burning down and coworkers aren't having meltdowns Leadership always under stress from out of touch board, unrealistic demands, compulsive obsession with membership metrics by execs, huge egos, always negative news, positive feedback is never given unless your a manager/executive, most NGB executives have that "we are a prototype organization" excuse so no progress is made and all the pressure falls on lower level employees to perform to perfection, financial instability is a staple of NGBs, always chaos within multiple departments trying to bandage broken programs. Also I have worked now for 3 different NGB's and its all the same dysfunction. -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE 0.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 1054590 Open Where to start? Take some accountability for fixing systems before starting to lash out at other employees and make excuses as to why an NGB is not netting a profit margin of 100million a year. Theres a culture of blaming other people in NGB's because at the top NGB execs are some of the most incompetent people on the face of planet earth. Its a miracle any NGB is still operating in 2018 with the bafoons who run these organizations. CU boulder did a study and graded every NGB except track and field an F at governing their sports. You have to work hard here or else you fall behind quickly. A solid culture where I met lots of teammates and made some good life long friends. Coaching was top notch and expectations were clearly defined. As an athlete who saw little competition, I wasn't given the same amount of attention as the guys who were traveling and competing all the time (which is understandable). However, when my body began to break down and I could barely walk or stand in a huddle for more than 30 seconds because of my back pain, I knew that I would soon be leaving the team because I still wasn't getting the medical attention that I needed. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 0.0 4.0 4.0 4.0 4.0 3.0 4.0 1054590 Open Hire more staff to take better care of your players. They offer flex time and in some instances allow you to work from home (depending on your supervisor). The insurance package is pretty affordable and the company matches your retirement contributions up to 8%.
