private:viaoptronics https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=454624 Dec 10th, 2011 12:00AM Open Open VIA optronics Hillsboro, OR Looks great from the outside, but once in the door the business is tenuous. The CEO is a strong proponent of key employees meeting and working with each other at divisions in Germany, China and US. Travel has not been limited, so there is plenty of opportunity for cultural interaction and unique experiences. Since VIA is a very small company (LLC) you will get to exercise your skills far beyond what you were hired to do. Great people and a close knit community make for easy communication and problem solving. Loosing a single customer can throw a monkey wrench into the best laid plans. Nearly all direction and approval has to come from Germany. Decision making at headquarters is slow and impacts customers. If business is down cutbacks are much easier to make in the US due to the fact that US law has the least protections for its employees. The company owner micromanages to the minutest detail. When an individual reaches their thresh-hold of exasperation they then quit, the company has a high turnover rate. Benefits are very limited due to the size of the company. Salary is offered at market value and then discounted 20% and called "variable pay". There are so many conditions and restrictions placed on variable pay that it essentially never gets paid out. 9.0 3.0 2.0 0.0 3.0 3.0 2.0 454624 Open Work to value and keep your employees. Stem the brain drain, each departure hurts moral. The loss of knowledge and expertise that leaves makes it easier for competitors to win. Site visits by the company owner are stressful and not necessarily conducted in a constructive way. Support site management and coach for success. 0.0 [] No Yes 0.0 May 8th, 2021 06:55AM May 8th, 2021 06:55AM Via optronics
