Work environment is divided into us versus them in many ways - office and manufacturing plant are on opposite sides of the street, but they may as well be on opposite sides of the world. Administration building versus manufacturing plant, Vibram versus Quabaug, men versus women. There is a blatant disregard for the factory employees, who are hourly and get fewer benefits than those who are salaried. The turnover rate is incredibly high due to poor working conditions, unclear chain of command, and the complete ineffectiveness of the human resources department who will always, ALWAYS side with management. If you are harassed here, don't report it, just quit It will only reflect poorly on you.

The complete lack of diversity is astonishing in 2021. A woman was recently promoted to the management team at a meeting where her promotion was announced as "an effort to increase diversity". A second woman has been added to run Human Resources, but she spends most of her time off-site with the President/CEO, who never steps foot in the factory. When managers leave, the protegees they trained are not promoted to management or salary, only to an intermediary appointment called Lead/Leader, which affords the employee no extra benefits, pay, or status. There are many employees with Lead in their titles, but most are men, and most are white. If you really want to get anywhere at this company, be a white man from Italy.

100 year old factory. Inefficient and outdated operations. New US President is a good brand ambassador but has no interest in running a factory.

The benefits at Vibram are really great and the supervisors on the floor are truly awesome people.
|
There are several but what needs the most attention is HR. The gossip in HR and the talking down about associates and executive levels of management that happens is sickening and a very difficult thing to be around. Hearing an executive member refer to a colleague as a”Waste or space” or their demeanor or personality was just a testament to the person they are. This is not how HR should be and it should be unacceptable.
The amount of people who have gone through this department in the past few years is a testament to what is lacking.
Don’t expect to do anything incorrectly during your time of learning and not have fingers pointed at you in every direction.
Some teams,not all, are very all for me and none for you.
Be very sure the offer you receive in your offer letter is what you will be getting on day one.

This is perhaps the most difficult question to answer...perhaps they invested some cash in signs, windows and some much needed upgrades recently. Can probably get rick quick through lawsuits if you desire because they do a LOT of stuff wrong.

Most of management at high levels. You will get mixed messages on the same topic depending on who you speak to. Consider that where there is a theme in these messages about HR being horrible at this place. Where there is smoke there is fire. It isn't all of HR necessarily but marching orders come from the top and there, they haven't a clue about Human Resource Management. The lack of professionalism is scary and the fact there haven't been multiple lawsuits here yet is no small feat. If you really want to have some fun start with talk about a Union and watch how they come after you. They will monitor your social media, talk to people around you and try to dig up anything they can on you to shut you up.

The company really cares about their people. They are looking for ways to implement better training, hire better people and wages have been increasing. There are people who have worked here for many years, and have a lot of knowledge to share with the new people who are coming into the company, it is a good mix of old and new. The new CEO seems to have a good vision for the future.
