Stop playing favorites to certain teams (tech vs. sales). There seems to be endless budget for the tech team to create products that do not even work correctly while sales has to deal with the aftermath of said products not working while getting the shaft and being bullied at times.
There are a lot of overinflated egos here. It was disheartening to work for a company that had a potentially amazing product but didn't ever meet goals, honor release deadlines, or treat its employees fairly.

Quickly growing, but slowly shifting
|

A mostly positive atmosphere in a quickly growing company, still has a lot of that quick and light "tech startup" attitude. I'm really proud to be able to work for a company that's doing so much good. Also, they provide free snacks and caffeinated beverages, which is nice.

Slowly shifting to a more corporate atmosphere after acquisition by Safariland. The parking situation is also pretty rough, but they cover bus transit which is a decent trade-off.

Sometimes it feels like a lot of decisions are 1-off choices rather than policies, which makes it difficult to set expectations when working with customers. Perhaps a more robust set of procedures would make delivering a consistent experience? But that might come at a risk to that quick-and-light vibe I was talking about before.

When I worked at VIEVU for several years, I was fortunate to be surrounded by several hard-working, morally sound colleagues. The company's intentions were something I was eager to support and it was a unique experience being involved in the police body camera "boom."
|
VIEVU was a welcoming, tight-knit company until it was bought out by Safariland mid-2015. Since then, Safariland had instilled very questionable ethics and made it an extremely undesirable environment to work in. There is no real career trajectory for any position, and compensation has always been well below market. Everyone seemed to be stuck in a rut in their positions.
*Note, I have been out of the company for several months so I am unaware of any improvements that may have been made regarding my cons above.
