Chaotic with lots of change. The management team were quite committed and a good bunch of people. No time to settle the changes though which is unsettling .

Stay away from this company.
|
People keep leaving and it's clear why. There is no support and a fair amount of abuse. Upper management demonstrates a baseline antagonism towards employees. They are all over the place, literally and figuratively. They don't use standard operating procedures, don't document things, don't take time to work out details, and then gripe at each other for miscommunication. They don't orient or train employees, don't support them with resources. Horrible place to work.

Great job but little advancement and terrible management
|
Vix is a great company to work for if you are "in" with the right managers. My boss was an idiot who didn't know anything about the job, but got his position because he was dating the CFO. I had to tell him how to do his job regularly. A typical day would be 8-6 and the commute was terrible being in downtown Seattle. I learned a lot about RFIs and technical documentation, and I also learned more with Crystal Reports and how they can be extremely intensive. I learned a lot about the transit agencies and how they worked together across the Puget Sound. The workplace culture was fine, but there was not a lot of personable interaction. You were there for your job and once the workday ended, so did the relationships. However, the Australian workforce was MUCH more personable and I felt the management was better there. The hardest part of the job was dealing with an inept manager who didn't know a thing about what I did, yet he took credit for it continuously. Also, management would make unreasonable promises to our customers because they really had no idea what it was that was entailed to fulfill their requests. The most enjoyable part of the job was my immediate coworkers in the small IT group. They were fun and sociable. I also enjoyed the ability to travel to Australia a few times. My Australian coworkers were amazing and incredibly smart.
