The job was amazing when I first started but the people who had been there for years didn’t care for new people. They were rude talked bad about new employees and the college students were rude and disrespectful.

Terrible management.

Washington and Lee started off as a great place to work, everyone got along and were like family. The more they changed their management and supervision the more people they lost. Within my two years at Washington and Lee we could never stay fully staffed we went through so many part and full time employees It was unreal. The job itself is a great job, but as long as they have the management staff they do they will never keep a full staff.fstaff.staff.

Not followers of there own legacy and zero transparency
|
I understand this is a private institution and an at will state, but the lack of communication and transparency is astonishing. They have a policy to NOT allow recording devices during your OWN HR meetings. They leave there policies so vague that you are not remotely capable of keeping a career there. They have produced and continue to allow behaviors and a culture that is toxic to the modern day world and the primary reason I was there was to serve the students something that clearly wasn't there priority, which is sad. Two things on which they say they are based on honesty and integrity, they do not uphold if it is for there own gains. I can on good faith recommend this employer as for they will not have the interest of there employees at hand let alone the whole reason they exist the students. I hope one-day soon they chime in and ask for more transparency and accountability at all levels as the mismanagement will only continue and the cycle of not achieving the best for all parties and people who have dedicated there time and effort to creating the very best experience and environment for the students.

Best job in years
|
I loved working here as it worked with my school schedule, the pay was great for the area, every day was not the same, I got to move around and was able to do different jobs which prevented me from getting bored. The food is amazing, and to top it off, I had a wonderful manager who was fun, easy going, and great to talk to whenever there was an issue.

Facilities is an even bigger mess now than it used to be
|
W&L is supposed to be a great place to work. People I know in other departments love it. I was in the facilities department. Exec Director just retired. There was so much favoritism and bullying in the department (all over the department) and it is even worse now than it was before. If you're in you're golden, if you're out you're dirt. It was awful.
