Some days are more difficult than others, in terms of both work and motivation, but staff really do care for their workers and for the WSU community, which has made it a great place to work.

Benefits are a mixed bag
|
The benefits are good, but if you are young and don't have a family or health issues, most of them are not all that helpful. For example, they don't match retirement unless you have been there 10 years. Faculty and staff don't get any perks like discounted access to the gym or on parking. The only benefit that really helped me as a young person who wasn't planning to stay for 10 years was the ability to take 2 classes a semester without paying tuition. That part is nice and I know a lot of people here who get their degrees part time while working this way.

They did not recognize. However, connections are made after hard work and deadication. They will become more accepting over time. It was right for the point in time that I was meant to be. They will make progress as needed. Becoming more accepting and fluid.

Good place to work as a student

WSU- Dining Services was fine. Nothing too crazy, managers are very understanding of your class schedule. Everyone was really kind and they did good when having to switch into pandemic mode.

Not a bad place overall

I enjoyed my time working at the Compton union building. Cleaning it what it is but the employees were all friendly and management was willing to work with your schedule if you needed it.

I enjoyed working at WSU. You become a member of the Coug family and become very proud very quickly of your association with the university. The leadership is sound and the entire staff and faculty are wonderful people. The best part of working at WSU are the students, I am constantly amazed at how much they accomplish and how hard they work.

I loved my position but the ugly head of the town versus gown aura and socio-cultural politics dashed my time there. There were some very good times and had much success. But, it is a very stressful environment.
