Wattle Park Partners Pty Ltd (WPP), est.1994 by its Managing Director Chris North, is a Sydney and Canberra-based consultancy providing strategic, regulatory, economic and technical advice and services to the telecommunications and media sectors.
Prior to establishing WPP Mr North was a senior career executive with the Australian Government for 25 years, holding key positions in a range of Departments and Federal Ministers' offices. He was chief-of-staff to two Federal Government Ministers and a central player in the Australian reform of telecommunications and broadcasting regulation in the early 1990s.
Over the past 16 years WPP has undertaken projects for major telco and broadcasting companies, governments and regulatory agencies in Australia, the USA, Europe and Asia.
In 2000 WPP successfully bid for the Australian 3.5 GHz spectrum licences and subsequently founded and then in 2003 floated Unwired Australia Limited, Australia's first wireless broadband company. Unwired was acquired by Seven Group Holdings in 2007. Mr North continues in his role as a founding Director of Unwired.
In 2006 WPP played a major role in establishing WiMAX Day (the worlds leading source of news and info on WiMAX technology) and WiSOA (a global organization of owners & operators of WiMAX specturm).
WPP continues to provide services & advice to various telecommunications and media organisations, including an ongoing strategic advisory role it has held since 1998 with Seven Network Limited.
