Communication is all over the place. Leadership likes to travel to and from the offices to hold Q&A sessions where nothing of value gets asked/answered.
No clear direction on the future of the company, the same speeches are given over and over by leadership. But after 2 years of new CEO leadership hardly anything promised has been actioned.
Like others have mentioned, your time here largely depends on your manager. A lot of managers are tenured employees with little to no experience.
The review and comp cycle has continuously changed. Career path/trajectories are teased but never come to fruition.
Difficult to get work done across teams. There is no clear line of communication to interact across departments.

It's an amazing company with a deep and rich history and heritage. It centralizes purpose and tries to stand behind it as much as it can. A unique proposition for a tech company.
|
As the business experiences a tidal wave of change in the industry, it greatly impacts its DNA. That with the addition of a lot of new C-level executives causes issues with its long-term vision. Something to bear in mind. Hopefully, this will be corrected with time.

The company culture vision is great but the execution falls short of the idea
|
|
- Travel opportunities to visit global offices
- Most teams are fully remote (although some are starting to require in-office days)
|
- The management team constantly changes plans causing a lot of unnecessary instability and stress for employees. I only recommend working here if you are comfortable with chaos.
- Do not speak up on any internal flaw unless you are ready to quit because there will be repercussions. Agree to everything and embrace every idea as an excellent one.

They used to have a bunch of really capable people in the engineering side but most already left.
Good perks health and wellbeing budget, personal development budget and nice people.

Issues are brought to HR, then largely ignored.
When people complain nobody at the top listens, instead they make this "chats" on google where people can ask questions but they don't want them to be anonymous, hard questions like transparency on company wide decisions and salaries always get deflected and only stupid questions get the spotlight.
Roadmap changes a lot, no clarity on what the future of the company is.
A lot of questionable layoffs happened recently.
It feels like with new CEO came a new American kind of management.
Absolutely zero growth, super opaque framework that never did work.
Salaries are quite low compared to other similar sized profitable companies, at least in the Netherlands, but if you get hired from the US you probably get paid almost double for the same role, not sure about it since there is no transparency.
Pretty bad corporate culture where cliques and friendships gets you high but if you're not in the select group then you're pushed down.

WeTransfer has offered more or less the same product for 12 years, and the simplicity and profitability of its file transfer service gave it the option to explore avenues like "good" advertising, B-Corp values, and supporting artists. Those initiatives, plus an abnormally diverse staff, make it a real stand-out in tech.

Around 2022, the leadership started shifting toward ex-Silicon Valley dudes, which changed the company culture considerably. This meant a lot of decisions seemed top-down, less internal mobility with more top-level hiring from in-networks, and less emphasis on the kind of advertising that made WeTransfer unique, followed by some questionable layoffs.
