80% of the good or bad of your job is your direct supervisor. He was great and let us self-manage most of the time and stepped up big with big improvements in the property when we really needed it, and made it clear what the priorities to focus on were. The company has a pretty relaxed style and threw a really great meeting for all the managers nationwide in Vegas.

It seems like the company expanded too quickly, I was with the "economy" brand. We didn't have the middle tier facility services support you'd find with other operators in the area. As a veteran facility manager I was more than happy with getting things like occupancy permits, well permits, and other compliance tasks completed, it felt like these tasks had been neglected for a long time before I arrived, and trying to get authorization and the means to pay the bills was like pulling teeth. With other companies, I'd just scan off some notice to corporate that we needed a renewal of such and such permit and they took care of it.
Pay was a little below average for the industry and always seemed to get the run around on the bonus despite taking a really rough property built 70s and increasing the revenue by 30%+ over a year.
Benefits were the worst, it would have been $800/m to put my wife and kid on a high deductible plan and had to stick them on Obamacare.

I think their core business is fine. If I lived on the west coast by one of their fancy new high-rise locations I'd want to be involved. Might have just tried to grow too fast with the economy brand management.
