Was hired to fulfill a contract they had with Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Dept, so I never really felt like I worked for Woolpert. The program at MD WASD was very poorly ran. I found myself looking for other available jobs on my first day at work.

There is great career growth and the ability to take charge of your career to a degree. As with any company, Woolpert isn't perfect but really strives to be better in an intentional way.
The only downside to the culture is the "good old boys club". Woolpert has a lot of internal politics that need to improve. I worked in a high visble position and I had insight/access into multiple departments. I've seen good people loose opportunities due to internal politics. However, it's still an amazing place to work.

The only reason I left was location and life-timing. I wanted to be closer to family. Even though we all worked independently at location all around the globe, the people I worked with directly were wonderful. My boss was genuinely over the top supportive and very knowledgeable about any situation I encountered. I would highly recommend Woolpert for employment.

There is no job security or room for career advancement. I did the exact same thing every single day I was there. They lied to me about job duties and other opportunities. They are constantly going on hiring sprees followed by mass layoffs because management is very poor. I really just not a good place to work especially if you’re starting out.

There are many ways to improve the efficiency of the locating operation that come down to troubleshooting and some people are more experienced than others. When one of the more experienced leaders of the group asked to share his knowledge by teaching a training class for 4 hours on a Saturday to help improve everyone, the idea was shot down by management. There are some who are favored in the company and tend to receive areas that are far easier to gain their requirements for the day or week that are not in a leadership role, while some are give more challenging areas.

I was excited to work for the company after over 2 months of interviews. The HR was great. My first week I received less than 30 minutes with my manager. I was given zero details, training or onboarding. I was told it was a 4 days of 9 hours and one day of 4 hours for working. When I left after putting in 8 hours (4 OT hours) on a Friday after already doing 4 nine hour days I was abruptly let go. I’m thankful as I’d never want to work for such an unprofessional manager.
