There was free hot cocoa in the kitchen.
|
There was a refusal to update any hardware for any of the developers, despite repeated promises to do so.
It seemed every day there was an emergency in a production website, usually because the deadlines provided tended to be incorrect.
There was an excessive amount of business travel, which management was unrelenting on, and forced people to go even when it didn't make sense (such as in my case, where I was a Java Developer, but they had me go to conventions to distribute name tags). There was one point where I paid rent for an entire month in an apartment that I didn't get to see.
Despite the title of the listing I applied to (Jr. Java Developer), most of my time was spent designing nametags in a crappy, proprietary XML and occasionally writing some simple HTML. My entire time there, I never got to touch the Java language.
The pay was pretty awful, and the immediate job I applied to afterwards paid 10k/year more with absolutely no haggling.
It was expected that you work on weekends, and almost every weekend for the month of August.
The overall tone of my coworkers was relatively unfriendly; I was never invited out to lunch except when I was being lectured by my manager. This might be personal, maybe I was a jerk, but it certainly left a bad impression.

Really nice co-workers, no hierarchy differences made between call center and other staffers. Reasonable pay.

Workload varies and can be heavy without notice. Management team are much older than staff which can make communication difficult.

UHH, hardly any pros. The office is in a great location where you can check out plenty of awesome lunch spots. This is definitely a small company, so you're very likely to make friends (or enemies)

Very political!! There is a definite divide between the executives and everyone else. They have a special holiday party and none of the "low level" employees even get invites. Certain managers talk badly about other managers.. very sticky situation here. I even remember a girl working here who then mysteriously disappeared after rumors surfaced that she was pregnant. Super weird!! Beware of internal drama! Also, pretty sure operations can't keep up with the sales people who will promise anything to get the close. Pay is pretty low too. All in all, I do not recommend.

personal grudges should not affect they way you treat the people in your division. Do not try to micromanage every little thing, if someone likes to do something a specific way and they are still adequate at their jobs it shouldn't be an issue

Extremely cliquish. Low pay. VERY unprofessional supervisors/management. No matter how well you do your job,if you're not kissing up,they don't like you and you will have zero opportunity for advancement. BLATANT FAVORTISM and both management and HR are well aware and don't care.
