Good medical benefits. In demand industry right now. Job security if you aren't a contract employee.
Average pay. Expectation to be on call at all times. Plant and employees Running at 150% capacity with no end in sight and management thinks it's exciting.

Don't tell your employees to use a short period where we were at only 100% to use that time to see your families. If you want to ship a certain amount hire more people and buy more equipment instead of driving your employees to burn-out. Don't Foster a culture where employees are expected to give up their evenings and weekends, especially without paid overtime.

It is a good company.
People care for the most part.
The management is generally pretty nice.
Overall it is a company I have no issue continuing to work for
It's a bit top heavy on management, for no seeming reason. At least it does not seem to be helping.
It used to have a small company vibe, but is now more corporate.

just a number
I had a really great manager. He was always busy but seemed to care about my growth. The was always something to work on. There was no shortage of work. The engineers that stick around will certainly have job security as long as they are willing to travel. They also have really good health insurance.
The travel can get out of control fast. All of the engineers of any skill are constantly traveling to one crisis project or another. No one seems to get to finish what they started on. It’s clear that we are being treated as numbers. My manager seems like he really cared but had no control to stop it.
The leadership of our group has outwardly said that we are all replaceable. I’ve heard them say in on a conference call as well as in the office. Back when we were in the office. The expectations keep going up but the rewards aren’t keeping up to make it worth the fights we have to go through. For all the people that remain it only gets worse for them trying to pick up the slack of those that are no longer there. This is very much a burnout job.

The company has been struggling with growth. They let customers walk all over us. Learn to fight for our schedules so we can do our projects the best. Accept that we are not numbers on a spreadsheet and that we have names.

Autonomy and Flexibility - but that may be changing
Autonomy, Flexibility, Solid/Low Cost benefits. Company has many offices in many U.S. cities. So you can possibly live and base out of any of them. New Sales people have increased business volume. CEO has periodic addresses to the whole company which helps everyone to understand his personality and vision.
Some Functional Areas are "silos" looking out for their group members more than all individual people or the company as a whole. Salaries are average. Some job descriptions travel A LOT (which is a "Pro" if that's what you're looking for). The company had two and a half large layoffs a few years ago. Management had the chance to place solid team members at Wynright's equipment distributors who were looking to hire if Leadership had pursued that opportunity.

The company and its offices and its projects and its people are widely dispersed across the U.S. That's makes it helpful for you to attract people who want to live, or base out of, various cities and States; however, you should consider visiting the locations a lot in order to be visible and develop cohesion among employees.

Management needs to take a long self assessment to evaluate workers to see their true strengths and weaknesses in each and everyone. This will allow for development of an equalized team, where some personnel can develop their weaknesses and others can shine on their strengths. They need to realize it's not about learning a certain way or method or teaching principles, it's about building a strong team who can succeed the hardest challenges. I propose a rotational program so each worker can find their strengths and weaknesses and not rely on one single person to accomplish all tasks. Accountability is also a huge problem at this company and no one owns up to their mistakes or improves from them. They are usually brushed off and never sourced to the cause or real story.

zero accountability and no reward
Really good benefits package. Not very complicated work since they are trying to make everything standard. Somewhat easy work.
Standardization is also one of the downsides. There isn't much room for creativity. They have done the same thing 100 times and it's pretty similar. You tend to do a lot of copy and paste things with excel.
The other major downside is that there is no accountability. Like last year where an engineer failed constantly and the rest of us had to pick up the pieces to finish the project. We would have hoped that he would have been sent out to learn but he only came out twice and made didn't spend any time on his mistakes. It was very frustrating. When I consulted both of the managers in the office they agreed and would pass it up the flagpole but instead he gets a promotion.

I'm not sure who makes the decisions but it's clear that there is no accountability. Despite all the talk of holding people accountable equally. It looks like the people that talk a good game get off and the people that did their work get nothing.
